Default Steiger 21 DV

Hello,

I am looking hard at a Steiger 21 DV CC. I currently have a 22' WA with 20 degrees dearise. The hull is a 2800 pound, mod V that is based on a seacraft hull. I really want to go to a center console for fly fishing purposes but am worried that the 21 DV would be a step down in terms of what kind of sea she can handle but I'm not sure. Has anyone been on the 21DV in any kind of a sea? Everything else about the steiger is perfect for my purposes (striper fishing within 4 miles on Cape Cod) I'm just concerned I'd be moving backwards by getting a slightly smaller boat. Any input would be appreciated

I have a 2007 Steiger 21' DV with a 225 Suzuki. I had it built for me last fall and really I could not be happier with it. Such a pleasure to watch it get built -- I visited all the time during the construction.

After nearly a year of owning it, I can only say that the boat is ridiculously strong. It is a great heavy boat that has handled all sorts of seas with no problem. It also feels really large for a 21 and has great lines. My friends all want one. If you want to discuss more on email, let me know.

My only suggestion would be sure to get a big enough engine -- I know someone who has a slightly older 23' DV Steiger (similar weight) with a 175 and it's underpowered imo -- like I said, they're heavy, well-build boats. Also the 30" shaft on the 225 means that they don't have to cut so much out of the transom.

you are actually going to be getting more fishing room -- the bow. I looked at the Steigers at the last boat show I went to -- definately overbuilt; a real battlewagon.

Thanks guys, If I go this route I'm going to hang a 225 on her so power should be good. Good to hear from people who have taken this boat in the rough stuff.

Is your Seawolf the one with the Honda on it? If so swap the Honda and you have a nice package. I have not run one but I've been looking at the same boat over there and the bottom looks nice on it.

Do any of you guys have the v berth seating in the bow? If so do you use is as a cadting platform with the cushions removed?
