Hey guys, I saw this boat on Boat Trader and I've never heard of a Grady White 266 Tiger Cat. I always thought Grady was only Monohull, but it seems that they have experimented with a cat in 1997? What happened, it didn't work? Any history on this type of boat? http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...r-Cat-86908252
The cabin looks nothing like a Grady, it seems that the people took a cat and added Grady stickers to it.
Having been on my SeaCat, a friends Worldcat, and a Tiger Cat I feel that the Grady Design is not a good one. It didnt have the lift that the other two boats I was on had and handle well. Thats just my .02 Cents

Great boat company who made a mistake by trying to get in on the catamaran hull craze with a poorly thought out design, that as the Dr. said above, was "bow heavy", and as a result had steering problems at normal planing speeds, and "hooking" problems in heavy seas where cats are supposed to accel. After a year or so of production, they ceased production and destroyed the molds.
There are LOTS of threads on this site discussing Grady's Tigercat.
Thanks guys, I am not looking at buying one (or anything at the moment) but just came across it. It was strange looking at having been on grady's site and here for quite some time it didn't look familiar. I didn't think it was much success since they don't seem to have made them long. I'm glad grady didn't go that route and stuck to the mono hull.
I know of 2 that sank after the cap separated from the hulls. One word sums up this GW foray into the cat market............
FUBAR.
Edited to add:
Sad, given the normal above-average quality on just about everything else they have made.
I'll preface my two cents worth by saying I've not been on a Grady cat. Word from Grady was that they fixed the shortcomings of their cat hull when they introduced the center console cat in 1999. So in 1999, both CC and walk-around had the improved hulls. But by then it was too late.
