New trailer brakes rusting

Whoever installed those brakes didn't read the installation instructions. The caliper assembly is supposed to be near the top on the trailing side, not near the bottom.

Perhaps that contributed to the problem.

Perhaps it did but I doubt it and Champion says not too. Road King Trailers did the installation.

"The calipers on the 3500# axle are normally positioned nearly vertical at the 12:00 o'clock position, however they will work in any position. The vertical 12:00 o'clock position is best for brake bleeding, giving the best opportunity to totally purge all air from the system."

And the Tie Down installation guide said something similiar if my memory serves....
