Default gas tank question

I started pumping gas out and no more gas is coming out of my tank

my calculations is that I still have 30+ gallons on, my level gauge is showing in between 1/4 and empty, the tank will hold 120 gallons

what is the best way to check this, is it anything inside the tank that can break and cause not to get all the fuel out of it?

The pick up tubes do not go all the way to the bottom of the tank to keep you from picking up trash you will have to pump it out via the sending unit hole if you wish to completely empty it.

Default RE: gas tank question

my concern is not to get to the very bottom, but I just wonder if something migth be wrong on the pick up pipe?

I remember using the boat and being down at that level and not running out of gas, seems odd that fuel just stop coming out

is there any way to check that pick up tube?

if the boat is on plane all your fuel is in the stern of the tank where your pickup's are, so that could be the reason you were still able to run. on the trailer if the boat is level not going to happen...Also keep in mind that sending guages on boats are as trustworthy as a fox garding a hen house. install a flow meter if you really want to know how much fuel you have.
