Default DISCHARGE PLACARDS

Federal Reqs say that I'm suppose to have 2 different Placards displayed on my boat.

Does anyone know where I can buy the following:

"Garbage Dumping Restrictions Placard".

All boats 26 and over must display a proper size Garbage Dumping Restrictions Placard in a place clearly visible to all passengers.

Oily Waste Discharge Placard.

All boats 26 and longer, with machinery compartments, must display a placard at least 5x8 stating that the discharge of oil is prohibited. The placard must be displayed in a conspicuous place in the bilge area or at the pump control station.

What are these placards to say?

Is this also for recreational boats?

Thanks

The CG usually will give them to you. Call the MSO office. Also, I think BoatersWorld, West Marine, etc. has them. You may also need an "injury" placard.

West Marine or Boats US

They tell you what you can flush and/or throw over and where (how many miles out).

I also have one about the USCGS zero tolerance drug policy that they sell, warning your passengers about illegal substances.

You can get them at West Marine, Boaters World, or any similar marine supply store.

Here is an example:

There is a similar placard regarding the dumping of garbage which your boat is required to have as well.

You can make make your own. Download and make a copy of both and laminate or put in a clear waterproof envelope. Be a real "homeboy" and duct tape them in place!

Shoot me an e-mail with your address - I have a limited supply of both, I will send you both of them for free.

Yes Auguste - your going to need them for your boat down here in May also.
