Default E10 Gas

Any problem switching between E10 and regular IF you run the tank to near empty ? On a 150 gallon tank, i would have only 5 gallons of E10 and the rest would be regular--no real mixing ?

There's no issue mixing any amount of E10 gas with non-E10 gas. The reported issue was mixing E10 gas with MTBE gas. I could be wrong on this, but I don't think you can buy gas with MTBE anywhere now.

Oh and just for the record, I mixed E10 gas and MTBE gas several times in my SeaRay and never had a problem. So maybe the problem only occurred under certain circumstances.

There are no mixing issues. The issue is older tanks with normal sludge on the bottom. The ethanol acts as a very high detergent and brings the junk into solution. So what happens is filters get clogged until you get the old crap out. Red saw dust looking particulate is typical. It will clog filters and screens. Racor 10 micron filters can filter it out. Most other 40 micron in line type type filters do not and the junk then gets stuck in carbs and screen filters in carbs. I do not know if fuel injected motors have these problems. Some Older motors also may have gaskets and fuel lines that can deteriorate faster with ethanol.

Keep spare filters for the first year you use ethanol - and do not add any more alcohol addatives. Good Luck.
