Ok, before anyone answers this thread please knock on wood because I don't want to jinx you! Here's what's gone wrong on mine:Two of the three a/c compressors went, one of my turbos, 1 stuck sea cock, corroded wiring on my aft bilge pump and high water alarm, float switch for the engine room bilge, leaky oil pressure sender, port out rigger broke an arm this weekend, and finally this past weekend I had a first! I managed to suck a jelly fish into my generator intake. Most of it got caught in the strainer however, still made a huge mess and stung my arms! Hopefully the black cloud will lift soon!
Are you talking about just mechanical problems or ride issues?
If you do your required maintainance you shouldn't face many surprises!
Last year My port '00 200 Yam needed a VST filter. When I looked at the
schedule it should have been done in '03, the year I bought the boat!
So while I was at it I replaced the starboard as well!
Sure, the little stuff like pulled out snaps, a bad bilge pump, etc...
The most serious break-down was actually not a break-down but a discovered issue with one of the engines on a Sea Ray cruiser that I use to have. A knock resulted in a replaced engine under warranty (thankfully), and then within 90 days of that repair, the opposite engines' tranny blew. Again, replaced under warranty (whew). Neither issue left me stranded anywhere.
I'm now lookin' for that nice piece of teak to knock on...
Had a hose clamp break - the one that held the packing nut on the shaft to the hose. Imagine: middle of lake, whole back end of boat full of water = full throttle to shore & beach. My luck has always been the big money parts failing at the worst possible time, like that hose clamp. Never any major probs - I'm a PM fanatic. But you knever know...
Knocking on my head just in case...

On the water & fishin - Finally!
Had a tiny crack in the cockpit (fixed under warranty) Other than that, not a darned thing. HOWEVER, As you can see, my boat is a SeaFox so after reading THT for a year I'm pretty sure that at any moment I'll be coming down off of a 1' wave with a bone-jarring crash, and that 1' wave will splash over the bow, knocking me into the see through transom, which I will break right through due to the weakening caused by the improperly installed plastic through hulls. At that time, the broken out transom will have ripped away the rub rails, allowing the insert to separate from the hull. The hull, having lost the support strength of the super-glued insert, will then break into pieces and the last thing I see will be the "Pro Series" sticker as the remaining pieces of the hull depart the surface for the journey to their final resting place in Davey Jonses locker. Or not.

Well don't say you weren't warned. Always wear a PFD if you must ride on that thing.
Let's see...failed head, fuel leak, faulty bilge float switch, engine overheating, engine can't start, engine can't trim, hydraulic steering failure, winch fail, loss of prop, various gauge failures and throttle cable slipping. Some of them have happened a few times!
Finally got around to fixing up everything on the boat (esp new engines). Sea trial is on Thursday...oh yeah! Auntie Whiskey rides again.
Puf
Edit: Oh yes, not really 'broken', but had to re-build the transom due to termites...
Had a leak in raw water washdown hose coming off the pump. I had to tighten the clamp. Now after hours and hours of use the pump is making a funny noise... but still pumps.
Gasket around the front window was coming loose and "shrunk". Repaired that 2 years ago.
Other than that it doesn't attract fish like I think it should... I have to do all the work some days.
Had a bow light burn out....
Oh... and the self cleaning switch is broken like on so many other boats mentioned
EMM (computer) died. $1800.00. Smart gauge $200.00. Trim & Tillt motor quit, ($ don't know yet). Good thing we have winter up here, Otherwise I couldn't afford boating!!!!!!
