Very nice looking boat, the build pics are awesome. Ever consider something like silver as a drop shadow on the lettering, subtle but yet gives just a little show.
Re: Here comes the Judge! --- 27 Chesapeake that is...
That may look good especially with the silver motor. I will have to check it out once I get the boat. I most likely will have the name put on after I take delivery of the boat..

Greg, have you considered having the Honda painted while you have the chance?
A black motor would look good on that boat...
I had my chance at a black motor but I chose the Honda. It wasnt a Merc though.
(Judge is a zuke and honda dealer)
I certainly hope the Honda treats me as well as the OptiMax on my last boat did.
Sorry afish, painting a motor is to fru fru for me. Besides with the navy and royal accents on the boat, i think a blue motor would look odd (now if I could change the odd shape of the Honda...)

It may be out of reach as I am over budget already but any thoughts on a colored hull? Was thinking navy blue hull with blue bottom paint. Is there any difference in maintenance. It would be Alex Seal http://www.alexseal.com/en/. I think it is like awegrip and it is not a gel coat. How tough to maintain?
here is what I was thinking (wife likes it too)
or
If not I will stick with navy blue boot stripe and blue bottom paint with the navy enclosure.. (kinda like the traditional colors for cabo, bert and hatt)

My buddy just got an older 23 MayCraft. He asked me about the placement of the name and I recomended the cuddy cabin. My experience has been you just brutilize anything down below the rubrail while docking. He chose to put the name on the hull itself. Looks great, but not my first choice. The 23 is much smaller than your new boat but I can vouch for it being a very dry riding hull and just a great platform to fish from. You have a thousand desicions to make in rigging her out but in my humble opinion you have a very fine vessel there. Good luck to you and many safe voyages.

Good to see you are able to build your dream boat!
Obviously, colored hulls are just a matter of preferance. Both paint and gelcoat have advantages / disadvantages. A positive of a good quality paint is the lack of constant maintenance to keep looking good for a extended period of time. Alexseal is relatively new in the field but it's inventor certainly is not. Many are using it with good results although some issues have been encountered. Not directly with the topcoat itself.
Unless you are offered a great deal on the color change, you may find it wise to enjoy the boat in white for now and save your paint cost for a update in the future.

wow! those colors are great!
lots of blue hulls out there these days...especially around annapolis. they used to stand out, but not so much any more. i would have liked to have found green, just to have something different. and if i was building my own, that's prolly what i would go with.
clearly, you won't be making a mistake going with that blue combo...it is sweet.
a friend of mine just bought a brand new marlago with twin 300 verados -- it has a factory burgandy hull that looks really sharp. i'm sure you'll see it on the magothy. and if you go back into redhouse cove inside of gibson island, you can see it on the lift -- you won't miss it: gold mooring cover. hmmm...burgandy hull, gold mooring cover...wonder who he'll be rooting for this season? hahaha.

My only suggestion, if you haven't already, get Bill to install a saltwater washdown. I did mine myself after the boat was built and it was a huge pain in the a$$.

Figures...I paid extra for the bow rail, the QL tabs and the seat boxes.....also, upgrade the Todd seats to the ladder back type, they look so much nicer.
Re: Here comes the Judge! --- 27 Chesapeake that is...
And I want credit for having the first folding transom seat, although I have to tell you it isn't that comfortable. My wife folds it down and sits in an $8 walmart chair.
Re: Here comes the Judge! --- 27 Chesapeake that is...
We considered getting the blue hull with ours. After seeing the "Lady D", we regreted not getting it. She's a fine boat. We got a lot of simular features as you're getting. I choose the 5 gallon manual washdown (5 gallon bucket). I've had the washdowns before and they're nice, but I don't really miss them. I do wish that I would have gotten a full swim platform. Also, I installed a three foot piece of garden hose to the Honda washdown and secured it to the cable hose. This allows me to wash out the motor without having to crawl over the transum. Thanks for the pictures. Keep them coming!

What a great idea! Why didn't one of the manufacturers do that? Outboard or boat manufacturer. I would probably start flushing my motors if it were that easy.
