Default trailer lights - new question

I have read through a bunch of the threads on trailer light repair and have learned a bunch.

i ended up setting up my system with old fashion glass bulbs for the brake lights that had a seperate ground wire and rigged up my trailer with 3 strand wire so everything is grounded to the truck. Things have worked out well

For the side marker lights, i found some LED lights that had 2 wires. However they did not last long in the water. Although they were trailer lights, I dont think they were designed to go under water. (my fault).

Anyway, I was wondering if some one could recommend yellow side marker lights that had both a positive and ground wire. Everything that i have found (aside from the LEDS that didnt last) uses the trailer as the ground. After the time and expense to set up the trailer with the 3 strand wire, I would really prefer to stay away from having anything ground to the trailer.

Thanks,

Default RE: trailer lights - new question

That's not a difficulty at all... If you're wanting to use side lights that use the frame as a ground just run an addtional ground wire from the bolt that the light mounts to the frame with... The trailer frame makes a perfectly good ground but you can always run an additional if that's what's wanted.... If you're in the Ft. Lauderdale area you might want to stop by Ames Enterprises on Stiriling Road, they've got a really good supply of trailer parts and will have any advice you might need as well. They do everything from re-build, repair, to building custom trailers from scratch....

Good Luck.

Check out www.etrialer.com.

I bought some small LED amber side marker lights with two wires from them. The entire light is plastic so there is nothing to corrode. Those lights have held up as well as any that I have tried so far. They seem to last two or three years for me.

I have also bought other stuff from them as well that I was generally satisfied with.
