Great information Joey, thanks for sharing. Nice to see that Mercury extended the warranty making this motor(s) more attractive (maybe they will have an answer for the octane issue next).
What are the loads of each boat?
What are the weather conditions for each test?
What props were being run?
(Merc is also known to test boats with labbed or racing props)
Were the motors production motor or “special” test motors?
There are to many variables that are not stated here……
I guess its safe to say that the 350 verados have more azz on the top and bottom then the 350 yamadogs.
I am sure the #'s are in mercurys favor if it is there test. I know the trip 350 Yamaha YF's running light have not seen the top end that mercury is stating with there trip 350 Verado YF
Anthem, I know what you are thinking ...

I don't know the particulars of the report, but have put an e-mail into Racing to find out. I'm sure the Mrecs had labbed props since the engines come out of Racing, no idea about the Yamaha props, but more than likely stocks since Merc props won't fit (unfortunately). The boat was obviously not overloaded or over-propped since the engines were able to reach max RPM.
Good for Mercury!
I hope they sell more motors with the propaganda
If the manufacturer printed it, it must be accurate, fair and truthful
I hope they don't get into a tug of war with an Etec
Horsepower and top speed are a function of rpm. The Merc have a higher rpm and I would bet, a higher peak horsepower rpm. These are Mercury Racing motors being compared to a , if you will Yamaha guys will excuse the anaology, truck motor.

nice test, joe ...you'll have the anti merc crowd here stuttering for days for this one...
Aww, dont worry Glen..... it may be faster and more efficient but I like getting home every time. I bet that the 350 will be hell on lowers and powerheads.
yeah I'll bet brett....what a bunch of crap - powerheads have never been a problem and the lower end on a 350 is bigger than anything out there - you'll want one when it blows your new 350's doors off...or even your new 400's...
