Default Looking to add a few inches - wood or fiberglass?

I have a 26 express Twin Vee (prior to new design) - great hull just needs about 4 or 5 more inches of height. Occasionally I get a wave across the bow that dumps several gallons of water into the boat.

I have thought of a 4 or 5" piece of Mahogany or Teak as a top rail - or using either wood or composite material then fiberglassing it. I have wood working experience but no fiberglass knowledge.

Has anyone done this or can you share your thoughts...
thanks.

Not a direct answer to your question, but a nice piece of shaped stainless (combined rail and 'plate') might be an option as well.

I asked a similiar question a couple years back. Several folks suggested a product called "Spray Rails" which are hull mounted deflactors.

Good luck!

Slicing new fiberglass onto old is a subject I am also interested in. Hope you get some answers.
