Default suzuki 115hp problems

I have a 115 4stroke Suzuki that had been running great since 2001 till it started having problems accelerating and getting on plane. The throttle will be all the way down but I am not getting any speed. Its almost like putting your car in park and reving the engine really hard. I thought it was the prop hub, so I replaced it, but I am still having the problem just not as frequently. Also on my way through the inlet it totally gave out on me and I hard to keep starting it to get though the inlet. Eventually I inched my way through the inlet and safely to the ramp. Any ideas?

Sounds like water in the fuel or filters. Replace all your filters. You can also hook up a seperate portable tank to see if it does the same thing. Could also be your anti siphon valve in the tank.

I hate to say it but you might have an oil leak in the exhaust manifold.

It could have clogged injectors. Change all your filters and then have injectors cleaned.

good advise from Parrott. The portable tank will determine if it's a boat problem or a motor problem. A boat problem you can probably fix yourself. A motor problem just got cheaper since you've elimiated some troubleshooting time. Good luck!

Well, for starters there's 2 filters ON the engine - the low and high pressure filters. Ever change them? If not, they're definitely due. If you find water in either of those or the separator, you may have to dig deeper - like into the tank.

What type of maintenance have you done (or had done) on that engine? I believe they do call for a valve inspection at some hour interval. If you are close to 500 hours you may want to have valve clearances inspected.
