Looking for some feedback on Andros Boats. How well are they built, how is the ride, etc.??

Rides like a panga, Built pretty solid.

Give andy a call and he'd be glad to take you on a run, and you can see all the boats in various levels of construction.

I don't own one, I just prop a lot of them out for Andy. He is active on the FS forum as well, you might check over there.

The boats are made well and are quality construction. I've toured their factory in Sarasota and took a 22ft out on a test drive when I was considering buying one of their boats. I was also able to go out fishing with Andy in one of their 26 Tarpon boats as well. Both rode well, though different than a Deep V, but I was very impressed with how they rode. The small details on the boats are not forgotten as well. I didn't end up buying an Andros boat, but that was just because I work too much and am deployed too often to justify the investment vs use.

The company is a great company and Andy is a great guy to work with. I wish more boat companies were like Andros.

Thumbs up Happy Bonefish 22 soon to be owner

There isn't a better boat on the market for the dual roll of flats and blue water. The fit and finish of the boat along with the 140 hp Suzuki motor are superb. Can't wait to sea trial it!
I've been a professional captain on ships and boats for over 40 years. I like to tell people every penny I've ever made came out of salt water and I figure this boat will carry me through my retirement years as the last boat I will ever own.

Not really. They're still two piece which to me is a major negative.

I fished a 26 Tarpon. It is a very nice panga...........not what I would call a blue water boat, however.

I threw a dorado into the forward fish box....only to find out later that these front boxes drained into the bilge! The gunwales are low, slanted and with out toe kicks in the cockpit. Not much of any deadrise. Some details were lacking for the price my friend paid for it IMO.

I posted another remark earlier. I love the boat and love the company. And no, I have no connection with them. We have the 26 up here around Hampton Virginia and fish both offshore and in the shallows with 15-18" of water. It has a jack plate.

Any problem we had (it was the first production boat) Andy took care of with absolutely no complaints and did it quickly. I was impressed and I can be a pain in the A....

Not recomended for a summer vacation on the Intercoastal with wife and kids, but it must be the best and most efficient fishing boat around. It runs all day on a couple cans of gas.

If you're interested in that style of boat and are willing to spend that amount of money for it then you should really check out the Gause as well.

They are considered to be the top of the heap of panga builders...no one makes a nicer one....panga marine also makes a great boat, I've got a 22....IN MY OPINION....it is a west coast FL boat, not an atlantic boat...does very well in short chop, close together...in larger swells, it will get you wet and hurt you unless you are going "panga speed"...16-18 mph....a term used by panga guys....look at the bottom....they are meant to run with the bow down to split the waves...the rest of the boat is basically flat....tabs a requirement.....

I have the 18 and love it. Like many have already said, call Andy, tour the factory and take a ride in one. Also visit http://pangaforum.com/ for more information on Pangas.

"A major design and cost factor is that our boat consists of a 3 piece construction meaning hull, stringers and deck. Other hybrids use a four piece build, hull, stingers, deck, and ring deck. By building a 3 piece boat and maintaining wide gunnels and safe freeboard we are able to build a strong, quiet boat and build it more efficiently both in weight and time."

Hmmmm. I've never seen a boat builder count stringers as a "piece." They're talking about 3 pieces, not 3 piece construction. 3 piece (what they're calling 4 piece) construction is a hull, deck/liner and a cap (like Sheaffer, Gause, Contender). Andros is what most people call 2 piece which is a hull and deck/liner. 2 piece is cheaper and simpler to build but it's like fishing out of a bath tub with no bolsters or toe kick. Just flat interior sides. I do however like the transom live well set up Andros has.
