Default Steigercraft

I'm considering one of their 25 foot boats. Does anyone have experience with this manufacturer or their boats. The dealer closest to me is Baywood Marina - has anyone had any dealings with this dealer? Your input would really help - I'm new to this area in NJ.

"fish401" have you looked at the Parker 2520 XL...... unless you are going to spend the extra money and get the 26' Steiger..... the XL is alot more boat for the money, than the 25' Steiger.....

fish good luck on dealer-- GREAT BOATS-- says everyone-- factory tour posts say the same; I think birdman-?-- would like 23 I/O because Parker got out of I/O business ( boat in fresh) ---give me an email if you do any good--- Someone told me AL would sell direct if no dealer in area however the price was better at a dealers location. Doesn't the 26 look great? However don't want to give away the kids-- my wife suggested some body parts if I really wanted a 26 that bad-- I DON'T THINK SO!!

fish401

Welcome to the forum. Although I didn't buy my boat from Baywood (they started carrying Steiger 2 months after I ordered my boat) I certainly would have, no pressure and very easy going. My father bought a 17' aquasport from them in 76 and the dealer is still owned by the same family, so they have been around for a while. Al will sell direct if there is no local dealer but it is indeed cheaper, because they would much rather you use one of their dealers. For me it was about $3000 cheaper through Hilton in Del even though the factory is closer to where I live. The 26' is beautiful in fact Carmine still owes me a ride on the 26 that they have at Baywood even though I am in no way going to get a 26 they still want me to seatrial it. Parkers are nice boats, almost bought one, but the Steigers have more engine choices, you can get a Parker powered with anything you want as long as it's a Yamaha o/b, they won't even sell an unrigged boat, Yamaha or nothing at least that's what the local dealer told me. I own a 23' Chesapeake and am more than content with the fishability and performance of this boat. My .02

Fish where are you going to be running your boat?

If you do decide to look at Parkers, another fine rig, DO NOT go to Schrader Yacht sales, I have heard of many bad experiences people have had there. I did not like the fact that when I went to see about a 23' sc they kept pushing me toward the 25' because they had them in stock and didn't really seem like they wanted the trouble of ordering the boat that I wanted.

AK he did ask about Steiger Craft I believe, so I guess this is Steiger Country.

Fish401 - I took delivery of a BI25 late last Fall, and only got 20 hours on her, before hauling. Very solid, stable fishing platform. Gets up on a plane quickly. The 25 is pretty flat underneath, so don't expect to go blasting through the 3 foot chop with her. The 23 would be better for that. Once she gets back in the water, I will be able to add much more info. I got her in RI, so I can't help with your dealer info.

Please let me chime in on this one. First of all, I purchased a 2520 DV Parker with a single 250 from Schrader in 1998. The purchase was a great experience. I was not forced into one model as opposed to another. I had the opportunity to seatrial my boat on several occassions before the decision to purchase was made. Rigging and prep was first rate. Follow up service has been great as well. In all fairness a dealer should not be ruled out b/c one person is upset. I can also vouch that customers of Cecil Marine are very happy as well. Mark and Paul at Cecil are first rate gentlemen.

Brad
I am happy to hear that you had a good experience with Schrader. A good friend of mine has a 23' cc and has had nothing but problems with the bottom paint since the boat was new, he has been more than a gentleman when it came to having the prob fixed but they basically blew him off after the sale was made. Another THT contributor was quoted as saying "I wouldn't buy a sparkplug from those guys". As for myself I went to Schrader ina serious effort to learn more about Parker and the options that they offered in the 23' sc. Immediately upon my arrival I was being pushed toward the 25' sc because" they didn't cost that much more" and "we have them in stock", I know what I wanted and the salesman didn't even try to listen to my needs. He also asked what other boats I was looking at, I told him Steiger Craft, He basically said that they were crap and that I don't want own one of those. When I asked why he thought that way, he couldn't give me any reason let alone a satisfactory one. Because of that he failed as a salesman. Cecil on the other hand, although I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with them, have heard that they are very professional and good people. Again just my .02

"Parker" Brad, you are 100% correct.... I purchased a 2004 2520XL from Cecil, and Joe and Paul have been great people to deal with....

PS: "Parker" Brad, as far as dealing with Schrader, I have no personal experiences with them, but you are the only person that I have heard say anything good about them.....

I was looking seriously at the Steiger Miami when I happened to come apon a Parker 2520 MVSC with the open back pilothouse. A decent asking price and the availability of the open pilothouse sealed the deal for me. You don't see many of these in this area. Of course, you don't see many Steiger Miami's either.

I agree with AK that is a nice looking rig and unique, I have never seen a Parker with the open back and there is only one 25' Steiger in existance that I know of set up like that. It was being built when I was at the Steiger factory and belongs to someone on THT I believe.
