Default What type of fuel filter should I buy?

What kind of external fuel filter should I buy for my 2005 F225? I would like a clear one. Is it hard to hook one up? Which one do you guys suggest?
Thanks

A 500 Racor. Note the clearbowls are not for mounting in enclosed spaces. IMO I would use a 2 micron element and carry a spare.

I am a bit confused with getting the right filter. I have an F225, what is the right size, or what should I ask for. I want to have a stainless head with a clear bowl, but I don't know know what size to get. Can someone help me. I've asked 3 different people about 3 different racor filters, and I got 3 different sizes. I like the yamaha stainless head, but they do not make a clear bowl. Will the racor filter fit on a yamaha head?

I think I'd get the 60. Andy at SIM on the vendor board can fix you up with a stainless housing and Yamaha filter. The housing will take Racor replacements (S3213 as I recall). Good luck.

This is not correct. The filter assemblies with the plastic bowl are not approved for use with inboards or inboard/outboards. Filter assemblies with plastic bowls can be used with outboards whether they are internally or externally mounted.

You are correct. Plastic bowls are not supposed to be mounted in the engine spaces on inboard/inboard-outboard setups. Personally I would not mount a plastic bowl in any enclosed space if your running a gas powered boat.

As mentioned above, get with Andy at SIM. You need the Racor S3213 with the stainless mount. It is a 10 micron fuel/water seperator with a clear plastic bowl and drain at the bottom which is OK to mount in the bilge on an outboard boat. The S3213 screwed right onto the Yamaha mounting head which was installed on my boat at the factory. The Yamaha head is aluminum and I'm holding my stainless head in reserve for when the Yam starts to corrode. Andy will fix you up with everything you need at a fair price. Just click on the Yamaha ad at the far right of this page.
