low rpm's 1999 Yamaha inshore 90 hp 2 stroke

I took my 1999 edgewater out for the fist time last week and got only 3400 rpm's in forward. The motor is a 99 yamaha 2 stroke inshore that had not been run since o4. I changed out the old fuel and fuel water seperaters last fall. I took it to a shop last week and they said they got 6400 rpm's with muff on the motor - no load..What do you think is the problem?

Dirty carbs. it sounds like you have a clogged jet. i have just been down this road with my older yam 130.

have you checked the filter under the cowling?that is where my problem was.

Is there a way to prevent the clogging in the future...is there some type of treatment for the fuel or for the carberater filters?
