Boat Transportation Help

I live in Pawcatuck, CT. and just put a deposit on a 24' boat in Greenwich, CT. The boat has no trailer and I don't plan on buying one but I need to get it to my slip here. I inquired about having it moved here and got a quote of $850!! I might pay that if it was in NC! That also doesn't include hauling or splashing in at the marina. Does anyone know of anything cheaper in this area? If I don't find anything I'll probably just take the long boat ride through Long Island Sound.

Go to the marina you plan to keep it at and find soemone who just launched a similar boat. Ask if you can fill their tank and buy them dinner if they will use their truck and trailer to get your boat delivered. You might save some cash and might make a new marina friend. Sounds corney but its good to have buds at the dock that can watch your boat when you are not there.
