Venture 34

I am in the process of looking for an upgrade to my current 27' contender. I have narrowed it down to Sea Vee, Regulator, Venture, and maybe even the Sterling. I am interested to seeif anyone has good info on the Venture. Specifically how they ride and hold up to big sea punishment. I am running to bluewater in the Mid-Atlantic Canyons and want to make sure I pick the right boat this go around. Smoother ride is important! Will sacrifice some speed for comfort.

Buddy has one. Fish canyons etc. Cannot say enough goods things about boat. Quality construction, hardware, eats the seas up. Not a creak, rattle or groan. You could jog laps around the console. Not the fastest, but good cruise when it counts(3-4s)

Since you're willing to give up a little speed for comfort, you really owe it to yourself to look at the bigger cats. WCC makes a 34' cat and Renaissance makes a 30'. Procat and GB also make boats in this range, but IMO, the Prokat ride is not significantly better than a mono and the GB is too slow. FWIW, the WCC 330TE will go mid 40-ish (I still don't have a GPS, but the 225 Hondas push the demo boat at 43 and the 250 Suzukis felt MUCH stronger). Cruise is mid 30's with excellent economy (1.7+ mpg).
