Default WTB 21' Parker - Classic or New(er)??

2 foot itis has gotten the best of me, and I'm looking to sell my 2004 19' MayCraft (anyone interested?) and go with a 21'. I've always liked the way Parkers looked in the water, so I think that is my next boat. However, if I decided to pull the trigger, anything above 18 or 19k will probably stretch the budget a bit. I've got my eye on an '88 that has been repowered with an '05 HPDI (20 hours), new curtains and cushions, and new 100 gallon tank. Everything looks clean, but something about buying a 20 year old boat bothers me.

Curious as to any thoughts about the older Sou'Wester compared to the newer models. Any pros vs. cons?

Someone on the trading dock here has a late 90's 21dvcc for sale for your price range. the sou'westers will all have a 14 degree deadrise. if you're bumping up I'd get the deep V as it rides a lot better. I've owned several early to mid 90's parkers and would not be afraid to buy an older one, just do your homwork to make sure it was maintained properly

In '88, the only weakness was tht they still had not glassed the underside of the floor. But you have a new tank, so that has probably been remedied.

The deep vee rides better at higher speeds, but consumes more fuel, draws more water and rolls more when drifting.

Consider your primary boating ares when making this decision.

Thanks for the replies. I've looked at the '99 DV listed on the trading dock, and probably would jump on it if it were anchored by a Yamaha or Suzuki. I've been going back in forth on the DV vs. modified for some time, but thoughts based on usage:

75% - Pamlico Sound.
10% - Near shore around Cape Lookout and Wrightsville Beach (NC).
15% - Anchored up with family time.
