Volvo IPS - The Hull Truth

We finally got a chance to drive a couple of boats with the Volvo IPS system. It was really as easy as advertised although we did not have any oppportunity to test the mileage claims.

Has anyone had any experience with this system for a period of time?

I must say that docking with the joystick is a real revolution.

My brother took delivery of a 4300 tiara sovran with the IPS 500 system a year ago...the boat is literally a dream.....everyone always worries about collisions with the foward facing props, howver, they are designed to sheer off withno intrusion into the hull......he has 420 hours on them and says he wouldnt get straight shaft inboards again....if you have any questions or concerns....PM me...i have spent probably 300 of the 420 on the boat with him on the boat....and we always each take our boats to the islands

We have a little over 60 hours on our Tiara with IPS system. We love it. We haven't had any problems. We are on the Tennessee River and haven't any issues with debris. We've found the fuel mileage to be a little better than published.
