Default Storage Ideas Inside Center Console

Hey guys, I need some ideas for storage inside my center console.

Is there a good way to mount things without having to drill through the sides/front of the console?

We're looking at putting a potti in there which means we'll have to relocate a bunch of stuff like a fire extinguisher, life jackets, fishing tackle, boat washing supplies, towels, ect... Even a spot for things like a camera, keys, cell phones, and wallets/purses would be nice.

Right now we just it as the one stop, dump it here, quick and easy access for pretty much everything we bring on the boat. We've got storage in the front under the cushion that we don't use because it gets wet every time we hose/scrub the boat out. Might have to start using that space and taking everything out to wash the boat.

Another question...where can I get a good locking latch for the door on the center console? I just installed a new clarion CD player, jl audio amp, and onboard battery charger and would like to keep them where they sit. I know locks are only for honest people, not for thieves, but when we pull up to a marina to have a couple beers it'd be a nice feeling knowing it's locked.

Thanks

Here's the only picture I could find that might give you an idea of the size...

First thing I would get is a life jacket holder up on the T-top. Life Jackets take up a lot of room. You could also buy bungee storage pockets and put them up inside the console...

Thanks Cracker, I forgot to mention I've got a T-Bag already (old picture) but it doesn't have enough room for all the jackets.

Where can I find these bungee storage pockets you speak of?

I use plastic storage containers to help organize my storage inside my center console. Get containers that stack or ones that are the right size for the spaces that you have. They come in lots of different sizes. You can also install bungie cords or elastic netting to hold the boxes in place.

My boat is a lot smaller than yours, but my console is just one open space. With the plastic containers I can get a lot more storage and it all stays (somewhat) organized.

Steve,
I bought some of the bungee cord made pocket stuff at Wal Mart in the RV section. Many boat builders use it to make webbed pockets. Sorry I dont have pictures. Any RV or Boat suppy place shjould carry something. Its similiar to the link below.

http://www.boatersworld.com/product/188000087.htm

I use stackable plastic boxes also.

Cool, those look good. What's the best way to attach them without drilling holes?

Is there a decent adhesive that you would be able to take off like a rubber cement type? Not 5200

Use adhesive to attach wood to fiberglass, then attach hooks, etc with drill and screws

I have yet to find much that will stick or be adhesive and hold much weight. Fastners may be your only choice.

I really hate to screw anything into the walls of the console itself.....since the walls are so thin, I would probably go with a nut and bolt and have the nut on the inside if I had to.

Use oval head bolts and finishing washers on the outside of the console. Use jocknuts and cap nuts on the inside.

Talking about storage solutions... I have this fire extinguisher flush mount storage... I had two, one on each side, but one was stolen, and I've been trying to find it to make both sides equal... If anybody knows where to get this, please, let me know...

Pretty sure that's from http://www.ssicustomplastics.com/ - they make it with and without the door.
