Default Recall on Yamaha's 250 HPDI?

I just found out that i have 70 psi on my 6th cylinder on my 2005 Yamaha 250 HPDI. My dealer says there is a recall on the oil pump for this motor. My question is for other Yamaha owners out there that have had the same problem what do i have to pay for? what should i expect from my dealer? How long does it take? What should i look out for?

Your dealer is wrong. The oil pump replacement is not part of a recall. It is simply an improved part that Yamaha is offering.

Call Yamaha Customer Relations (phone number at their website) with your engine serial number handy.

MAKO 22ft

Did you get this recall in the mail recentley? I have a yamaha also and just wondering if I also might have the same problem and need to take mine in to be taken care of. I don't want to replace a power head on my dollar if it's avoidable. Times right now are getting bad with the economy and this could mean big bucs thanks for any info you are able to send my way

Take it to your nearest Yamaha dealer and get a compression test on your engine to make sure you have good compression. It needs to be around 120 per cylinder. 5 of mine were good but the 6th was 70. I never got nothing in the mail i guess the guy that i bought this boat from never forward his stuff to me could have saved me alot of time and money if you are out there thanks alot bud!

There was a TSB for replacement of the oil pump on HPDI motors of certain numbers

oil pumps with s/n 60v10, 60v11, or 60v12 will need to be replaced with s/n 60v13

-oil pumps with s/n 60v0, 60v01, or 60v02 will need to be replaced with s/n 60v03

-oil pumps with s/n 6d000. 6d001, 6d002, or 6d003 will need to be replaced with 6d004

Ask your dealer to check service bulletin 02007-011.

It takes the dealer a few hours to do this and he will run a compression check when done to make sure the motor is good to go.

I have an '03 225 VMAX HPDI. I took it in to the local dealer after I found out about the oil pump "update". They did compression and leak down tests and found one bank was out of spec. New powerhead and all updates were covered by Yamaha.

They do a compression check first. If it checks good then they will install a new pump if it checks bad they call tech support to decide how to procede.
