Watch for the shoaling in Bogue Sound, NC. Take it real easy. I just made the trip from Ft. Pierce to Longport, NJ. Prepare for the bridge openings after Coinjock, what a nightmare. Some on the hour, others on the 1/2 hour. My highest fuel cost was $4.82/gal in Georgetown, MD.

What depth and speed are you trolling? See any pallets holding dolphin?

I know you have tackle on board and ballyhoo in the freezer.

I have a captain bring the boat up....his name is Dad. Works for cheap

I will be getting on the boat some where between Cape May and Cape Cod to bring her the rest of the way.

What are you using for the GPS tracking? Is that SPOT or some other system?

WOW! This is pretty interesting. I had a brother in law get a boat (for a lawyer friend) in nova scotia and he was trying to captain her to chicago through the st lawrence seaway for a land drive to portsmouth ohio. He called my sister everyday and gave her updates and she pleasantly emailed all of us on his progress. The boat was a 40ft + oldtimer that had duel engines if I remember correctly and it was breaking down all the time. he got it all the way to lake huron and pulled her into a marina and hit unmarked rocks. She sank at the pier and had to be hoisted out of the water to a drydock for repairs. She is still there waiting for a court decision on the marina not marking hazordous areas. And this was 5 years ago. I hope you all have better luck and it sounds like you are having a great time. I hope I just didnt jinx you. I love the map. I was stationed on the uss robert g bradley and uss obannon both stationed out of charleston sc and I know the shelf depths very well from charleston to portland maine. I dont think we stayed as close to shore as you are but this is so interesting!! I will be watching your progress with interest!

I'll never forget how happy I was last August to be running up Core Creek after three days of bashing my brains against northeast seas coming up from St. Augustine. After an early start from the Morehead City Yacht Basin I made it all the way to Norfolk in one day. I got very luck with the locks and bridges north of Coinjock.

Wave hello to me after you come through the Cape Cod Canal.

Glad to hear the trip is coming along nicely without any major problems. Sounds like a great, scenic trip for your dad, thats great he is doing that. I know you have asked about inexpensive gas prices along the way, how are the actual gas prices? Is there an average? Where was the cheapest?

So far, I think the highest fuel was in Beaufort SC. $4.43 plus tax and of course we took over 300 gallons that day. I have not asked my Dad what he has paid each day but will report later.
