Default 290 Wellcraft Coastal

I stopped in over the weekend and looked at a 2003 290 Costal. Powered by twin 250 Evinrude DI's. Low hours, 240 I think. Genset, AC, hard top, no trailer. Boat was in great condition. Asking price was $79K. It seemed reasonable to me. Looking to hear from owners how this boat rides. The owner is interested in my CC as partail payment. He is retiring and doesn't need the big coastal anymore. Any things from real owners I need to look at. Obviously, a survey on both our boats would be done to make sure things are square.
Any likes / dislikes of the layout that current oweners have.
Thanks again
Todd

I have a 2006 and like the boat a lot. The lay out in the 03 is slightly different with the ice maker and the double seat behind the helm. The inside of the boats are very similar. I use my boat for fishing primarily in the ocean but not more than 15 miles offshore. She rides reasonably well in sloppy seas, but you have to trim her out properly to get a good ride. Also your fuel economy will drop from about 1.4 miles per gallon to about .8 miles per gallon.

We wife and three kids have spent a few weekends on the boat and it's a bit small, but we manage. Overall I like the boat a lot although the fit a finish could be a bit better. Good Luck.
