yamaha reverse clutch problem

I have an older yam 90hp 2-s and i had the "dog clutch" replaced a little while ago but its starting to act up. last time the mechanic just did a quick adjustment after replacement and it seemed to correct the problem. My dad recently replaced some cables and its not working properly again. what do i need to do to tighten the thing back up? is it a simple turn of the wrench adjustment, any help is appreciated.
