Default Need Advice on Valuation of 86 Albemarle 275 Express

Any opinions on an 86 Albemarle 275 Express (Stern Drive)? I would also appreciate any suggestions on how to factor rebuilt outdrives (2003) and rebuilt twin Volvo engines (2001, > 100 hrs.) into the NADA average retail value for the vessel. Would the outdrive and engine work be considered normal maintenance and therefore already taken into account by the NADA valuation? NADA put the vessel at $25k… it has a tower with controls so I have been told by the broker to add $3000, bring the total to $28k. Seller is asking $45k. Any input would be very helpful.

I too am in the market for the same boat except inboards. I live in New Jersey and have seen that all the boats around here are extremely overpriced according to the NADA price list. The boats are very well built but everyone I looked at was at least 10 thou over the NADA price. I'm stumped. Hopefully in the fall these guys will realize that no ones fallin for it and I will be able to pick one up a little more affordable. Hopefully! good luck

NADA has no wholesale market to base their prices on. While its true, they can quote MSRP, how can they establish a price on something that doesn't exist? (wholesale/auction prices) I think they're in the business to sell NADA guide books.

I believe that an 86 is an I/O boat, right? I think you'll be happier with a jackshaft boat - a lot better balance and the layout is more fishing oriented (no motor boxes at the transom). In any case, $45k seems pretty high for that boat, even with new motors and a tower. Check yachtworld and boat trader to get an idea of what they're going for.

Good luck.

If you are really interested in the boat, get it surveyed and appraised. Then negotiate with the seller. 45K seems too high for an 1986.

Good luck you tuna fishing maniac.

Search the archives. If I recall correctly, some people had issues with at least some versions of the Albe 27.
