"Best ride" means different things to different people. What specific ride qualities are _you_ looking for?

Say 20 miles offshore and 3-4 foot waves.

May we suggest that you determine the best ride yourself by taking test rides in the boats you are interested in.

Try to pick the windiest / nasty conditions. Most boats ride real nice on smooth water.

We like our choice, but that is a personal opinion.

I don't think any 21-23 footers are going to do to well in 3-4 footers 20 miles out, unless they are just swells.

3 to 4 ft seas (wind waves) will be pretty uncomfortable in any 21-23 foot boat. I'm sure not going out 20 miles in a 23 footer if I know it's going to be a real 3-4 ft. However your best bet would probably one of those "SKA 23 footers". Contender 23T, Yellowfin 23, Sailfish 2380, etc.

What 21 or 23 CC is the best riding boat?

You might what to say at what price , the heavy ones with the highest dead rise will ride best at speed , but will roll when standing still , and will suck more fuel , there is alot of variables

My vote goes to the 230SF World Cat. It will smoke a 23 Reg or a 24 Albemarle in 3 to 4 ft'ers.

If you consider the SKA 23's, you're really talking about 25 ft. or more, not a fair comparison in my book.

Mine - It's paid for .

You have to realize putting an opinion question on a board with so many users from different regions your answers are going to be all over the place. If you are truly shopping you should put type of use, location, budget, etc...In all seriousness I haven't been on a 23' I think rides better than mine (I haven't been on all), but if I were in the market for a new 23' CC the Regulator would be on top of my list.

As the opinions will vary greatly...20 miles is almost a minimum for me and 35-40 isn't unusual.

My choice/opinion hands down would be a http://www.shamrockboats.com/content.../overview.html

Ride in one and you'll see why, but that's just my opinion.

Well I have owned only two boats , 97 SeaRay Walkaround 21' and have now a 186CC Key West. Just like to get back to a little bit bigger boat. I do love my KW, just wish it be bigger. :-)

What kind of performance are you looking for? Do you need a boat that will cruise at 35-40mph (like me) or are you happy with 25? Twin or single? Cat vs. mono? Hard core fish vs. family fish vs. sporty fish? New vs. used vs. price range? What waters do you boat in? Local dealer reputation?

If you give the folks here a lot more info you might get better responses. Otherwise, for the most part, your going to get everyone recommending the boat they own. Brand loyalty, amoung boaters, seens to override all logic

I owned a 23' Regulator a few years back with a single 225 4t and I loved the boat but hated the power. The 225 4t just barely pushed it along and was slow to plane. The boat itself rode great and I would definitely purchase one again but with the new 350 or twins.

I just bought a new 21' Contender with a 250 E-tec and so far I'm really liking it. I do 95% of my boating on a closed freshwater lake and the extra performance is great. The boat is a little more cramped and storage space is limited. It is not quite as stable at rest either. The tradeoff is it is 14mph faster at WOT and will cruise what my Regulator ran WOT with better economy. With my limited budget this was very important.

I might get to do some limited, inside 20 miles, gulf fishing a few times a year and I will have to pick my days but you have to on any boat less than 40' IMO. I personally dont want to fish on anything more than 2' seas or 3' if they're swells anyway. I had a 26' Regulator and I wouldnt go out on the same days with it versus the 23' or the new 21' Contender. A rough day is just rough and is better spent inside IMO.

I have driven alot of boats in this size, every boat rides different and some have great performance in certain conditions. Those conditions are always changing so I tried to pick a boat that did most things better than the others. Just gotta drive em to know what works for you.
I picked a 23 Bluewater with a 300 Suzuki
