Default Boston Whaler Newport

I have a 1987 BW Newport with an 90 hp Johnson on the back, same year. The KBB retail is around 3k but i see them for selling for almost 10k in some cases. Trailer is nonski rollers and is a 2002. I knoew the newport is less desirable than montauk because its a side console, I know the economy slowed down a bit. i know it's only worth what one will pay for it. But whats a reasonable price right now. Its been on cape cod the majority of its life year round. Saltwater boat for sure. My question is more than $5 Grand or no? The KBB is only around $3k...$2300 to be exact. I need your help guys. I know about the continious wave forum also and ill post the same there

Don't listen to KBB...you'll have to go on feeling and make sure the boat is in good condition...that's really going to be the key...I sold my 1989 17' Newport for 8500 with a 1993 90hp evinrude and a 1989 Shorlandr trailer...but it was in great shape...

Check out the whaler forum website...they'll give you more information about this model...

Good luck...

Check out whalercentral.com. They have plenty of knowledgeable whaler owners and shoppers.

I seem to remember that a Whaler should not normally be on a roller trailer. That could impact your resale if I'm correct.

Boston Whaler owner manuals tell you to never put them on roller type trailers. Can potentially damage the hull.

rollers can dimple the boat hull, whalers should be on bunk trailers.

It should be on a bunk trailer with keel support according to BW.

Dimples can affect the ride and aversely affect the fiberglass. When you create a dimple you are stretching the glass after its cured. Its a weak spot now.

That said. If that whaler is in good condition it should sell for no lower than 7k. 5k if its decent.

Whalers can go onto a roller trailer, as long as it is a LONG brand trailer. They have a roller configuration that has the important keel support rollers. They can dimple, but usually dont. bunk is better anyway with these boats.
