JayB,
Twin 200 HPDI's on that boat is going to be sweet!! Good luck with her, your going to love those motors, trust me!!
As for flushing, relax, it's easy, it's a no-brainer... Just dock your boat, shut off, lift the motors out of the water as ussual. Get the water hose from the dock. On the port side of each motor is a small 1 foot long plastic hose with a normal garden hose female connector on one end which is screwed into a fake male connector on the cowling (plastic motor cover). Unscrew the connector from the cowling, and screw onto the end of your garden hose. Turn on the water and drink a beer or start cleaning your fish... That's it, you just let it runb for a few minutes and unplug and connect it to the second motor, drink another beer or clean some more fish (hopefully ). DONE!! Takes five minutes, hassle free, and trust me, you'll love two things about it while doing it:
1. Just staring at your brand new shinney Yami's admiring them while drinkin a cold one!
2. Watching the look on other peoples faces passing by saying: "WOW, those things [Yami's]have a fresh water flush connection!"
As for the thermostat issue, I think 9 times out of ten, the stat is open, because I just came back from a long trip, the motors were hot, and I idled into the canal (read, the motors needed as much cooling water as possible..). So I bet the fresh water is getting almost everywhere. AND, think about this, my old motor, other than winterizing, I never once flushed after use for 12 years. So, is it missing a spot in the motor? Who cares!!
PS - Here's what they will look like:
