OK , my 23 foot single 200 ox66 cc with a 9.9 kicker is azz heavy. (and heavy ,+ + 4800 lbs loaded) Tabs will work, but is there a prop that does too ? Butt lift , And keeps seas without blowout ? 3 blade 17 pitch x 15.25 ss yam prop now.
This should help all the four stroke converters with two stroke hulls if you have found the awnser.
Share please.
Re: Best 17 pitch prop with seakeeping and stern lift
I agree, 15 pitch Rev 4 will get you the stern lift and bite you need and increase throttle response due to the 4-blade design and smaller pitch. A 17 will more than likely be too large as it will lower your RPMs by about 200 over your current prop.
Re: Best 17 pitch prop with seakeeping and stern lift
I tried the Merc Rev 4 15P, Yamaha SWS 17P, and finally a Merc Enertia 17P. Out of all the props I tried the Merc Enertia gives the best all around performance.
Re: Best 17 pitch prop with seakeeping and stern lift
I currently run the Enerti and have run them all. The Enertia may run the best on our boats but it is not a stern lifter and doent hook up anywhere near as well as a Rev4. You will not find a stock prop that hooks up as well as a Rev4. Maybe a Bravo but its close.

Assuming that your current Yamaha prop size is letting your engine see 5200-5500 at WOT normally loaded, I would highly suggest considering a Powertech OFS 4-blade 16 pitch. You will not need any flo-torq kit adapters since PT uses all the same OEM prop hardware.
If you want to stick with a Merc, I agree on the Rev 4 15p.

Re: Best 17 pitch prop with seakeeping and stern lift
my rev 4 would lose bite as dropped off plane. i now run an enertia 3 blade that has a lot of surface area 9despite the diameter). I cannot trim it up as high as the rev 4 but but she always holds and I can maintain plane at a lower speed. i recommend checking out a 16 or 17 Enertia. I also get much better fuel economy in rough water with enetria over the Rev 4
Re: Best 17 pitch prop with seakeeping and stern lift
I changed from a Viper 19 to Rev4 19 and I get a huge bite and stern lift at idle speeds. I even gained 5 knots at cruise. My MPG is the same, though. I'd like to get better MPG at cruise given that is where I spend most of the time. Ken at propgods recommended a MiragePlus instead of an Enertia for my purposes. Anyone want to trade a Viper 19 or Rev4 19 for a MiragePlus?
