Was wondering if anyone knew of a material that would insulate a non-insulated fiberglass storage compartment on my boat. The trick is you cannot gain access to the exterior of the compartment, you must do something from the inside. Don't worry it already has drain plumbing to the bilge. Thanks in advance.
Styrofoam sold at many home improvement stores
There’s a thing called a “hot knife” you can get to cut it with
Glue it to the walls, only trouble I can think of is it won’t
Be very durable or water tight so it may not last.
Unless you go through the trouble of glassing it in.
Just an idea.

Help keep the six pack COLD
Could you get a cheap cooler that would fit snugly inside the compartment (may "wedge" it in with styrofoam panels)? If so, drill a hole in the bottom of the cooler for drainage (if needed) and toss in ice and beer.
What is around the outside of the compartment? Could you drill small holes in the sides and inject expanding foam into the void? You can buy a product called "Great Stuff" at your local warehouse store.
just a thought,

I would go with Styrofoam SM (it's pink) apposed to conventional white styrofoam. Styrofoam has a very high R rating for it's thickness. SM like all styrofoams will dent but it will out last most all other types of styrofoams because of it's tight celled construction.
You have two choices in your approach in insulating your storage compartment. One: 100% glue insulation inplace and seal 100% of all the seams.
Two: Cut insulation panels and hot glue together to form a box that can be removed.[/list]The last thing you want to have happen is water or any other type of fluid to get behind your liner. If a fluid is allowed to get behind and if it is not cleaned up, bateria will become a serious health concern.
The size of the compartment is about 25 gallons and it is irregular shape because it forms right above where the V bottom meets the gunnels. Its very usefull if insulated because you can store about 2 cases of liquids. In the summertime ice will last about 4 hours, the wintertime forever.
I fished on a 36 Contender that used there 2nd livewell as a cooler,it was not insulated either. They had a insuladed soft side cooler made, just like a fish bag,it fits perfectly and holds ice all day long now.
I bought a huge insulated bag at walmart for around $10:00. (it showed a picture of a plater of food half in the bag)
It should work for ya. I use mine for a ditch bag...it floats and is bright pinkish color with a shinny foil inside. I could turn it inside out, figured it would help rescuers find me if I was floating at sea.
