Default Kodiak Replacement Pads

I'm getting ready to uncover the boat and start getting her ready for the season. I switched over to the 10" SCAD Kodiak's and wanted to know about replacement pads. I did a search and found a post where someone said you can use pads for an '82 - '92 Chevy Cavalier? There was a link in the post to a trailer place but the link didn't work. Anyone ever use them? Can you narrow down the year to ask for? Don't want the parts guy pulling out box after box trying to do the visual match... if I don't have to..

Thanks!

Koz,

Go with the Kodiak pads. They have improved them and they now have a lifetime warranty. It's not worth saving $20 on a set. The new ones from Kodiak will be BRIGHT RED.

To answer your question on the GM version:
1. Reference GM D-289 or 1982-1991 Pontiac Sunbird
2. The inside pad should be thicker than the outside pad. If not don’t use them.
3. Pads are the same for SS or cast iron rotors and regardless of size (10”-12”).

Look up any place that sells Kodiak parts (do a search for "boat trailer parts"). The new pads (red ones) have been holding up very well.

Steve, I just got 2-axles worth of pads from Champion Trailers.com, I ordered a bow tie down chain kit too and a new u-bolt kit for my snowmobile trailer so I got it all at once but here are some pics of the pads I took this morning for you, which are from Kodiak;

I definitely don't need pads yet but I bought them anyway because as we all know, the prices are NEVER going to go down on this stuff, so for about $30 an axle, it is worth getting the pads that Kodiak makes.

Thanks Ben.. Just put those back in the box and send them my way.. :-)

I thought the car brakes would hold up better then the trailer brakes which is why I started thinking this way. If people are getting good results with OEM brakes then I'll give them a shot... IF I need them. Need it to stop raining so I can dry out the cover and see what I got.

Thanks again!

Ha, you know Steve, if you really did need them I'd send them to you for sure, just let me know.

I did a thorough check of my pads a few weeks ago and found that all my pads were hardly worn but I have brakes on all my axles and I know that they are definitely working.

I'll be going out tomorrow, so long as it is not too rough out up this way, they are calling for 3-5'.
