Default Palm Beach Boat Show Furuno

If anyone going to the show, please ask the Furuno guy's the latest on the delivery of the 3D Navnet. My dealer is now saying it might be May or June.

I heard end of April about a week ago and a charter guy I know just called his source and inquired about ordering and they promised him a unit in Alaska by May 4. That makes the end of April right on target. Now that is for the first shipment and not all dealers will get very many units so that is where things could get interesting if you miss the first production run.

Are you saying they are only making a small run of them? I would hope it would be a continuous thing and if I did not get the first ones shiped it would be shortly there after. I was just hoping someone might have talked with the guy's at the show and give some insite what the delay is.

I have called Furuno and have been to 2 different boat shows and they don't know much about the date except end of April. There is a shipment coming from Japan to Camas WA. They will then be sending units out. I have been told several times that they do not know how many units each dealer will end up getting. 10, 50, 100 ??? You would think they would have more info than that but I can not find a reliable source that will verify much. I ordered mine months ago to solidify getting a unit, actually 2. As long as I keep hearing end of April I am happy. Now the first time somebody says end of May then I am going to be upset but there is not much I can do about it. All we can do is hope the boat does not get lost in the fog.

Do you really WANT the First Customer Shipment of a computerized device highly dependent on a sophisticated software component? It always amazes me how the "early adopter" mentality causes people to pay a premium price for what invariably turns out to be a product that is inferior to what it will be a year down the road.

The manufacturers should charge LESS for the newer gear, but demands by early adopters keep initial price points artificially higher.

I'll wait until version 2...

(I have a Furono 1933C now... I could use a refresh!)

Yes I do want the first shipment. This is Furuno. They have beta tested this stuff and if there is any needed updates it will take about 5 minutes to do with my laptop and a little data transfer. I also don't feel the price is that much a premium. 3k for a 12.1 MFD display. Not bad.
