Default New Flats Boat Company, Dragon Fly

A buddy of mine sent me this picture today. It is built in Vero Beach. Seems to be a real high end skiff. He said they had several models but I only have one picture.

The entry looks pretty sweet and it seems to have some " tumble home " in the sides.

It is called a Dragon Fly . Does anybody have any info on these boats? I am still waiting for my friend to send me info.

The one that the OP is referring to is different than both of those boats.

They are a new company out of the Indian River area. They exhibited at the Stuart boat show in January and had 3 boats there. They are like 17ft I believe. They had 2 different models, same length, one just drafted less.

They were nicely finished skiffs. They were more of a flats boat than a micro-skiff. I would look at them if I were in teh market, but it seems like a tough market to break in to (ie Man-o-War skiffs.)

the Dragon Fly has been out now for a few months, Capt Dave Sutton is one of the principals. The hull is 18' and a lot of info about it can be found on www.microskiff.com. As I recall there's a users review as well. I was looking at one today down at Flamingo as I was hauling out after a day in the back... Nice little microskiff. The one Dave is running currently is powered by a Honda 30.

If you want to check a really nice skiff in the exact same size range go to Gordonboats.com and look up the Ambush. Both the Ambush and the Dragonfly are designed to perform very much like the Hells Bay Glades skiff...

Go to: www.dragonflyboatworksllc.com

I saw these boats at the Stuart show and they were BEAUTIFUL! They are going to be the new hells bay and they have nothing to do with the Terrapin skiffs. The owner of Dragonfly used to be one of the owners of Hewes, Maverick and Pathfinder and he really knows how to build skiffs.

The 17 Dragonfly looks real retro with tumblehome, quarter guards, stainless rod tubes and the finish work is top shelf. I've owned a Hewes Redfisher and Maverick Mirage and this will def. be my next skiff.
