Default VINs on EZ Loader trailers

I moved out of Kansas a few years ago and then I moved back last year. In order to register my boat trailer (an EZ Loader) I need to have it inspected at the State Highway Patrol office where they verify that the VIN on the trailer matches the VIN on the title fronm the previous state. However, the decal that was put on by EZ Loader is now illegible. My understanding is that some manufacturers stamp the VIN on the trailer in an inconspicuous place. Does anyone know where EZ Loader stamps (if they do) their trailers?

BTW, in order to get a new decal from EZ Loader I need a letter from the state DMV stating that this is needed for registration - no small feat. It also costs $150.00 for the decal if I want it in less than 6 weeks. Kind of high, huh?

Also note that Kansas won't accept the previous title from Kansas!!!

Any info that can be provided will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Pete

I'm having the exact same problem as psilvers. My 1988 EZ-Loader VIN decal is unreadable, and the inspection station refuses to inspect it without a legible VIN. The sticker is unmolested, as it has precut rings that will tear away if you try to remove the sticker, and the pre-printed fields on the sticker can be read, but none of the info they added to the sticker after it was printed is legible...

I've examined the trailer thoroughly, but I haven't found a stamped VIN anywhere, though the corrosion might be hiding it. Anyone know what year the stamped VIN become a requirement?
cheers

Mine is a 1995 and NOTHING is legible on the decal. There is little to no corrosion on the trailer. The EZ Loader stickers are in GREAT shape!

I have an EZ loader trailer. If I look under my coupler and into the beam, the VIN is stamped in there. That means, of course, that your trailer has to be unhooked from the truck to look into the beam.

Same problem...........called EZ Loader and they advised that there are no hidden VIN's on mine 1997 model. Also no hidden VIN on Magic Tilt as well.

Easy Fix
go to hardware store and get a metal punch kit, Just take and stamp it into the metal yourself.

In MD. they issue a new Vin and give you a plate to rivet on, and title will say homeade. Its very easy to do and fraud is rampant. About two years ago one of our Counties finest was caught with a jet ski trailer he took from impound and got home made title for it. Needless to say his career is over. From what I understand NY does the same thing. Did you call your Motor vehicle admin info line and ask what to do?

Default alternate vin locations on ez loader trailers.

I found the vin inside the right hand rail (passenger side) by the Y at the tongue. they aren't stamped into the metal, they are printed on a sticker and one was readable the other was only half readable. I would stamp the steel rail so it is not lost altogether. one trailer is a 1984 and the other is a 1987 galvanized (both).

I have a 2001 EZ Loader tandem axel trailer. I found another sticker on the starboard side on the bottom frame around where the rear axel is mounted. I stumbled on it while waxing the bottom of the boat one time. It is still only a sticker tho, but it is out of direct sunlight. I sprayed my vin stickers with a clear acrylic varnish to help protect from fading.

I had this same issue with my 1995 EZ-Loader... the decal on the I-beam was completely white and I had no paperwork. I called them and they told me to look up inside the tongue under the coupler... and lo and behold:

I was stunned - that decal looks like it was printed 15 days ago, not 15 years ago. Have a look at yours with a flashlight, and maybe you'll get lucky like me.
