I promise I will NEVER use the lousy 640x480 setting on my digital camera ever again!

I looked at the SaltShaker 300 next to that one. I was really impressed with the construction and features. Nobody seems to have any opinions about these boats. The 300 with the Yamaha 4-strokes is sweeeet. I am thinking about replacng the Intrepid 339 WA with the SaltShaker 300 Center console with tower as my "win the loto" boat.

whats the relationship between Blackfin and Saltshaker.

And - why - if its a Blackfin 29 - would you hang outboards off it vs. having 2 inboards in the raised engine boxes?

Blackfin was out of business. Now back in business and owned by Revenge Marine(I think?). I think Saltshaker purchased a few molds from Blackfin and now produce them as a Saltshaker brand. I was there and that boat is really beautiful. Probably better than Blackfin ever made that model but it is enormously expensive for a 29 ft boat. I think the question might be who is willing to pay a very high price for a very high quality boat? There is no doubt that it is damn nice though.

By the way, the tower on that boat is a work of art. It looked to be excessively overbuilt and very impressive.

OK you guys....
I know of one for sale at a really good
price. Do you think you could live with
$125,000.00 for the identical boat.
This boat is tricked out with many extras
and is only 2 yrs. old. let me know E-mail
and ill give you his phone #.
The reason for selling.... he bought a bigger Bert.

I think revenge marine bought the blackfin molds but only had room to buid the bigger ones. So they gave Jeff Magio (or whatever his name is) from Saltshaker the smaller molds to build the smaller blackfins. Apparently there were quite a few loopholes in their contract and salt shaker started selling the smaller blackfins under the salt shaker name, and even setting up their own dealer network that overlapped the existing blackfin dealer network. It was really a big mess and revenge marine was screwed in the end because they lost control and ownership (I guess) of the smaller blackfin molds. I know of one dealer that has had some of these blackfin/ salt shakers in stock for over two years with NO bites yet.

why in the world would they have them for two years? maybe the uncertainty of the future support from saltshaker/blackfin?
or too high on price?
are there any quality issues?

this is my droolin boat.........

124K for a 2 year old 29' *real* offshore proven hull and dual inboard diesels is a steal - snap it up.

124K for the same boat and either gas or diesel I/O is probably a fair price.

124K for the same boat w/ 2 year old big whopping outboards is probably not such a great deal.

My 2 cents - your opinion may vary.

Nice boat sure, there's a reason the guy is stuck with them... Each year naples has its own boat show Saltshaker (Joe Maggio) in attendance with boat. Asking show price is
$185,000.00 not sure if electronics are included. Ive seen the boat with outboards on it too.
Don't know what Revenge marine is asking
but at that price he's going to be looking at them for a while.
Those beautifull towers on the Saltshaker
are powder coated, agreed they look good now
but when the corrosion sets in it will look
cancerous... far be it for me to render an opinion on this caliber of boat, i can only dream of owning one... lolololol

Anyone have any reviews of the 30 ft Center console ? Has anyone ridden one ?
Tom, does the powder coating hold up if you take care of it ? I have heard that rings (wedding bands etc) can easily scratch them and this will let salt water in under the coating, leading to problems. I am interested int he Center console performance with teh 225 4-strokes he had on the back of it, any thoughts ?
thanks
Eric

nat/backman - you guys have got your wires crossed. Let's clear up the confusion about the different models we're talking about:

28' "Sportsman" that Nat drools over is kind of a cross between a walkaround and a center console, blackman. I don't think there's any ports or hatches in the cabin (like a center console), but there is head, small galley, and v-berth below. This Blackfin hull was built by Blackfin with either I/Bs or O/Bs and Saltshaker's offering the same power choices. BoatTrader ad listing overall length at 31' is confusing, must be including pulpit and swim platform? Come to think of it, didn't Blackfin call this a 27' hull? I haven't seen or heard of Saltshaker showing this model at any shows recently.

Saltshaker is showing 29 Flybridge and Combi Blackfin hulls - these are strictly I/B boats.

The 30' "regular" CtrCnsl Saltshaker Wiley's pictured above is not, to my knowledge, a Blackfin hull and is strictly an O/B powered boat.
Think the 30' is SaltShaker's first hull of thier own - didn't they exist solely as a top-end rigger for years? You'd give them a boat and they'd install hardtop/tower, enclosure, outriggers, electronics?

i'm with you on it, but i think back in the late 80's blackfin did build the 29' combi with out boards,or the 27' combi is being advertised for sale as a 29' with outboards,
anyway we don't have any really good info on the new models....maybe they are all still awaiting the new owners.2 years on the sales block doesn't make much sense to me.
they did originally call it the 27' sportsman.
so, now that wylie has provoked us,i'll drift back to my price range.way lower!

wylie,
umm, ahh,do you have some pics of the 3000 pursuit ??maybe we could see the thread...
3000 pursuit vs. 29' blackfin combi

Although I made the comment that the tower was a work of art, I agree with the comment about the potential for corrosion. The tower on that boat is still a work of art...sitting there with no hours on the boat. I am a "simple is better" guy. I take care of my tower religiously and would personally never powder coat anything. It's just one more thing to go wrong. I have fished a 29 Blackfin(the same boat as the first picture) and the one glaring fault(for me) is that there is no storage in the cockpit for my fishing gear. Where do you store lures, line, crimps, hooks and the million other things you need?

nat - I have seen a Saltshaker Sportsman on the water - and it looked just as sweet as the pictures on land suggest.
