Default 15' Boston Whaler w/60hp 4 stroke Merc OB

The motor is turning 5000rpms and I was told it should turn 6000. Does anyone have this boat & motor and what does your motor turn.

Actually Merc recommends a range of 5500-6000 rpms for WOT for the 60. Can't help you with prop pitch size but at 5000 maximum rpms I would surely fix that. BW should be able to tell you what the factory delivered prop pitch should be. Of course the other possibility is something is wrong with the motor. Can you verify that the throttle is actually advancing full? Motor not running, lift the cowl, and ensure that you get full throttle at the engine lever when the control lever is fully advanced.

I think the starting point would be the 13 3/8 x 14"P Vengeance prop BW shows it turning 6200 rpm with a light load on
the 150 Sport and 6000 rpm on the 150 Montauk.

Is this a current model BW or an older one? The new ones are heavy compared to the early models. Check your pitch
and verify the engine is running correctly.

IMHO, this newer hull design is underpowered but since Mercury does not offer a larger two stroke similar to the Yamaha
90 they limited the engine size. A 75 hp motor would be a better fit, just wishin here.
