Im following some other THT members in their build process. I would appreciate any feedback during the build. This is only my 2nd boat. The guys at Seahunter have been great with answering all questions and just taking the time from a newbie like me. So lets get started....
learning how to post pics....trying to put some more. These are all about 3 weeks old when just in the mold. The turnaround time is about 4-6 weeks now since they have become more efficient in their new building and with more staff. I really gotta hand it to John and Charlie for stepping up to the plate. The attention to detail is great. It seems that John tells me they went to high school with Wylie from Yellowfin, and they are still friends. Small world the boat building business. With all the big CC's coming out now, the first big 39+ CC was the Seahunter 40. Imitation is the best form of flattery.
these pics are more recent...out of the mold. Two 124 gallon tanks(total 248) are in there and they have been glassed in, and today they were foamed in as per the pics. FLush transom ladder is also in, but sry no pics.
the guy in the green shirt.....one of the master builders....says he worked for Mako for years. Loves his job much more now. Guess CHarlie and John are good bosses.
I like that step designed in the hull that goe up to the transom. I know invincible has that also, I'm guessing thats to have the motors run in cleaner water, Looks really awesome!!! Keep the pictures coming!
Well I see you made the jump. Congrats!! Thats going to be a nice boat.
What power did you decide to go with?
I do recommend you have them plate all the bronze thru hulls and associated plumbing, it doesn' t cost much and will keep your bilge area looking great for the life of the boat. You'll find the guys at Sea Hunter will bend over backwards to work with you on all your requests.
by the way dark, what can you tell us about your boat now that you have ahd it for a while and fished ist. Pro's, con's, maybe things your glad you did, or didn't do. I have enver rode a Sea hunter, so how the boat rides would be great. Thanks
Darbikrash(John)...i saw the bronze thruhulls on some of their other boats with 300+ hours. They didnt look that bad, but not as good as yours either. John said the tolerances are different with the plating. I think i will go with what you recommend if it doesnt throw a monkey wrench in the whole thing.
And ill answer fishcop......the boat hasnt gone to cali yet. It is still in the building and i get on it once in awhile to see what i can learn/use on my boat. I think waiting on the Navnet3D but im not sure.

As Todd said, I don't have a lot of experience on the boat as it is still in Florida. We did take it fishing a few weeks ago, and flew the kites for a 20# skipjack. The speed and economy live up to billing despite the engines not being broken in. The livewell system works pretty well, with the pressurized wells keeping the baits plenty happy running in 3-4's.
We are having the high speed pickups moved down slightly to increase flow in the livewells. We've ordered all the Navnet 3D stuff , including a 6kw open array for birds. Hopefully, Furuno will ship next month on the Navnet and we can get into the water. I do wish I had ordered the fishboxes in ice blue, just to give a little contrast in the color scheme, but otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing.
I'll post more when we get it into the tournaments this summer.
more stuff.....basic stats 29'10"....beam 9'10"....smaller leaning post so that the room in the back is very similar to a 35. Im thinking about upgrading the leaning post cuz it doesnt have a cooler or livewell. I want a cooler in the back for easier access, but there is a cooler in the front standard. Im moving the leaning post 2" forward to have a little more room in the back. Im also making a custom leaning post cushion....my previous boat had 2" of cushion and it killed me. Being a doctor who sees low back pain more than anything else, it is a big concern of mine to save my back from all the pounding over the next years. Id like to be able to walk when im 60+ y/o.
Other tweaks....the trim tab controls will be just above the throttle for easier one hand use....when my hand is on the throttle i can just extend my fingers to adjust the tabs without looking.
Electronics.....Navnet3d 12" and 8" MFD's, Vesselview, Smartcraft gauges...i havent decided the layout yet. John says since the gauges have a plastic cover that they should be inside and the vesselview outside....ill ask Glen E for his opinion when we get to that point.
more pics from this week.......template for the combing bolsters. Also i just found out the NAVNET 3D electronics they ordered are going to be delayed another month to end of May from Furuno. As im walking out Charlie asks how everything is going.....i tell him im bummed about the electronics delay.... he says he will try to call in a favor and get me a loaner until it comes in. AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Im hoping it happens.
