Default Sailfish 2380 Power Options

Have a 2380 Sailfish with twin Yamaha 250fs. Is anyone familiar with the performance of a 2380 or 2660 with 150fs? Any other power option recomendations that would provide some efficiency? Would 4 blade props improve the performance for the 250s?

If you do a THT search for "sailfish 2660" over the last 2 years you should get a plethora of material regarding performance of the 2660 with a variety of engines. People that own 2660s with F150s say that it's enough power, people that don't own 2660s with F150s say that it's not.

Yamaha has performance bulletins for the 2660/266 with F150s, HPDI 200s, F200s, F225s, and F250s. Based on those reports it appears that the F200 is the only bad choice.

I owned a 2005 266 w/ the F150's and found that the Yamaha report was pretty credible. I could cruise on a nice day at about 30-32mph and get about 2.25 mpg. I was pretty happy with that. Given the other reports though, it didn't seem like I was gaining much efficiency over the F225's.

I had one last year and put over 300 hours on it before I sold it. It was a 2007 with F250s. MHO is they weigh to much. The boat needed wedges which I never installed. The perfect power to me would be Merc opti 225's or 250. But since they are not available, the Yammy HPDI 200 is next best option. The boat is to sensitive to any trim with the F250s. But it is fast. Low 60s are easy. Sailfish also does not prop the F250 correctly from the factory. I had some discussion with Denny after I got mine dialed in so maybe that has changed. The 2380 is a great boat for the SKA, but I found with such poor payouts in the 23 and under, it just was not worth it either. BTW, you will need spray wings with this boat. Do not get the factory ones, but you must have some made. She can be a little damp when running with any cross wind whatsoever.
