Welcome

This is a common post - check the archives or do a search.

I use Nu Finish cleaner wax mostly because it cleans very well. There's tons of good products out there including "woody wax".

Any car wax that is ok for fiberglass should work fine on boats also.

www.3M.com I stay with marine wax. Keep in mind your waxing 'gelcaot' not paint. Plus the marine environment is much harsher.

3M, Meguiar's, West Marine and Boater's World brands all do a good job. The best/easiest I've used are Collinite and Dolphinite and Trewax. They don't clean as well as the others, but they bead water like crazy for a long time.

go to www.boatered.com and go to the marine detailing forum. They have a wax debate at least once a month.

Just waxed hull yesterday, used West Marine wax with Teflon because I looked up wax in THT search and it was well recommended (thanks THT). This was the best wax I've ever used. Have used Turtle, Starbite, 3 M, Nu Finish and about 5 minor brands.

I use Meguires Flagship, and love the deep shine it gives. I apply 2 coats, and you can see your reflection on the hull sides. It is not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

I agree with tomtemp! Flagship is great stuff.
If you have dulling I recommend that you prep the surface first with polishing or rubbing compund, then the Flagship!

I've had older hulls pro buffed with polimers etc. It gets expensive... .. the best results Ive had was with a "Teflon buff finish", I would then use a good brand wash-n-wax every time I washed her. The Shine would be "Shave in" (about an arms length with fingers touching hull) .. deminishing over a full year season. Heavy Salt Water use....
When the reflection got down to a full hand length, I would re-apply new "Teflon Finish" with minor prep to heavy wear areas..... My Gellcoat repair guy "Hates" Teflon, cus he has to remove it totally for patchwork and repair. Yet my Mechanic loves it as do I, for a "Show Boat" shine with "Minimal Maintenance" I do snag some commercial "wash-n-wax" fom time to time from the F.D. Available at most Fleet supply....please dont tell.... But actually been very happy with plain old "Turtle Wax ,Wash-n-wax in the interm..!! and as for the older hulls we just gave all the kids sponges with plain old "Soft Scrub with Bleach" removed all the oxidation and got her ready for a wax job.. it works..made for fiberglass showers.. dont pay extra if your oxidised... wish I Had Stock in "Soft Scrub" .
Would Be Happy to hear from anyone as to ..Pro's and Con's to this Issue as were "(All In The Same Boat)" the only easy way to do it... Is Not do it yourself... Wife Chief Boat washer and breadwinner. Me Just FireMedic looking to make it easy Oh Yea... "hydrogen peroxide" is Great for Blood removal with easy finish..
Im off the box now only 7 "Mgd's in me Jim
Oh Honey..would you grab me another.
