Default engine height ?

i've been reading about the importance of proper engine height and i have some questions.
the cavitation plate is even with the hull bottom when i trim the motor down.
that's what the owner's manual says to do.
my engine is on a stainless marine bracket that sets the etech about 29 inches away from the transom.
does the bracket-mounted engine require any higher or lower adjustment?

here are some photos

I woul say it was probably to low if your engine was mounted to the transome, but on a a bracket 29" back there is no doubt.

The REAL way (and only way) to test is on plane, at cruise, engine trimmed up and see if the cav plate is riding under the water or just above it. Just above (skimming) with no water on top of it is the correct height.\I raised mine after I pulled the boat for season. Looking forward to checking it out this season.

general rule of thumb is 1" up for 12" back. Of course each case is slightly different, but that seems to get things close for first tries.

if you look at the pictures you'll see that if i raise it to the top hole, there will only be 1 bolt holding each top corner instead of 2 now.
is 1 bolt enough?

Looks to me as if you need to go up! Try this:I would take a long straight edge from the bottom of the center of the hull, trim the motor to the down but level position and the straight edge should hit the the center of the water intake pickup, or just above it to the top. This seems to work every time and I have setup more than my share of bracketed boats. Goodluck!
