Default Hells Bay Marquesa

anyone know about this boat and have personal experience running it? I know they are very expensive, but I found a reasonably priced used one that I am interested in but don't know enough about their shallow water poling abilities, as well as rough water handling, other than what the company website says.

I've owned a Hewes Bonefisher,Hewes Redfish, Hewes LT20 and a Maverick Mirage....all 4 were great skiffs. I fished a Marquesa 5-6 times with guides in FL. Bottom line...if I had to buy another all around skiff for skinny water and the ability to run in rough water with good comfort I'd buy a Marquesa hands down. They pole in absolute silence, great hole shot in shallow water and cut thru small chop with very little spray. Only problem I've heard of is they can get a soft front deck due to people jumping from docks onto the boat.

Good luck.

A lot of guides down here run them, particularly those that are into bones, permit, etc. It should be a simple matter to hook up with one of the many guides that run them and see what they say... it wouldn't hurt to spend a day on one as well if you can with someone that works out of one.

Agree with all of the above. If you found one that is "reasonably priced," you will not regret buying it.
