I have a 1999 merc 200 carbed that has been sitting about 8 weeks, it had stabill and i put some fresh gas in but it wont crank. The fuel bulb wont build pressure and i pumped on it for a while, it is located after the fuel filter. Before i put the boat up i changed the fuel filter but was told not to put gas into the filter. So my predicament is how do i get fuel to the bulb? When i pump the bulb you can see a small amount o fuel in the filter on the engine but it doesnt even want to TRY to crank.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!
sorry tried to put as much info as possible, it will turnover but will not fire up, im pretty sure its lack of fuel but not sure how to solve it, thanks
coutry,if you pump the bulb, that should fill the filter.i'm assuming it was running good before this problem? and yes,i will ask is is there plenty of gas in the tank?is the bulb hard?sounds like your loosing the prime from the bulb to the engine, maybe a defective bulb?sounds like fuel to me especially if the filter is not filling.is there a water separator filter?looks like a keylago boat?i have a 22 ft.er marcus
yes sir it was runnin great , went 60 miles out the day before i put it up, just wanted to put a fresh filter on it before it went into storage so i wouldnt have to do it later. No i dont believe its a seperator filter. yeah the small filter on the engine is not filling at all, just a very small amount of fuel shows when pump on the bulb.I think im gonna go buy a racor system tomorrow with a water drain so i am sure i have a separator, now when putting the filter on, do you putfuel in the filter or put it on dry?? and marcus its a cape horn 21, very close to the key largo, i love it
what you could try is if you have a quick disconnect on the engine, try hooking it up to a remote tank.if there isn't a quick disconnect you can disconnect the fitting on your remote tank and connect it to the t-connector in side under the cover.and try it then.
Country, I have a 1999 115hp merc carbed and had the same problem when I changed the fuel/water cartridge, it would
not prime. Had to take the cartride off and fill with fuel, sqeeze the ball til it was firm and crank it up. I also own a 2003
200 HPDI that does not need cartride to be filled with fuel to prime.
