Default considering the prokat 2860 comments.

I currently own a 2660 sailfish and am considering switching to a catamaran.

Any one own a prokat. I know about the one that sank at the lump.

Please give me any good or bad reviews and ofcourse opinions

I like the twin vee but the fit and finish for the price sucks and there is hardly any storage with the only built in ice chest under the seat where you are operating the boat.

You can do a search on this site and get lots of old post, mostly negative. I own a 2002 2860SCTE. The boats are planing hull designs and I think the hull design has been changed since 2002. I've had good service out of the boat with a few exceptions. I live close enough to take the boat back to Riverside for warranty issues which were resolved to my satisfaction. If I had it to do over again I would probably go with the 2660 since it has the same range as the 2860 but is a little less boat to clean, haul and maneuver. Running in chop and close seas up to about 4', the boat handles well. A sea trial in the conditions you expect to find in your area is mandatory. Top end on my 2860 with F225s is a little over 50 mph on a flat sea. Do a little research on cat hull designs before you buy. Look at World Cat and Glacier Bay for comparisons of the various hull designs. In my opinion, to get a better ride than most cats you need a heavy deep v over 30 with a high dead rise. Prokat is on the low price side for a cat but more expensive than the TV. I think WC and GB may be pretty comparable price wise but on the high end of the scale. Don't expect that any cat can run 35 thru close 6' seas, as Clint Eastwood said, "a mans got to know his limitations". Deck space on the Prokat is great and the CC version I have is laid out well. If you do a lot of billfish fishing you may want to check out the reach to the water, most cats have deep sponsors resulting in quite a reach to the water over the side. If you have the $, now is probably a good time to buy with all the negative media on the economy.

One of the guys in my fishing club has a 2860. He has logged many trips. Check out his website.

I don't know your budget, but if you are looking for a new boat There is only one choice. I own a Freeman cat and have fished on every other cat out there. There is absolutely no boat that can touch it. I choose this boat for the economy, ride and best of all speed. Pus it nice when you can truly have things built the exact way you want them. Good luck with your boat search it is exhausting trying to find the perfect boat.

I fish a 2860 regularly with my buddy
this is the diesel variety with volvo diesels/ duo prop volvo drives
I have fished /owned several offshore cc' s since 1980 or so and i wouldnt even think of going out in the nasty crap he does in his procat. as much as i hate the look/ design of this type boat there is no comparison on ride when its blowin 25 out of the northeast
and my old ass is sittin drinkiing my beer on the way in and were cruising at 35 mph in 5 fters. Great boat reguardless of the bashing on this particular boat, oh by the way, cape coral to keywest / approx. 125 miles 50 gallons of fuel

I have a 2003 ProKat 2860 WA with Honda 225s. The boat stays on a lift in Gulf Shores, and I fish rigs and wrecks. On occasion, we'll take off from Gulf Shores to Venice, Louisiana to fish for a week. I moved from a 25' WA, and I really enjoy the ProKat. Before buying the ProKat, I tried a World Cat and Glacier Bay, as well as a number of monohulls, and felt that the ProKat was the best value for us.

Our boat has the generator, A/C, water heater, and fridge. Other than my experience with the starboard fish box (the port box is taken with the generator) macerator, which has died every 18 months and is a royal pain to change, the boat has been great. We can run and fish in conditions that would have kept my 25' at the dock, and the boat has a roomy cockpit (we fish four or five without incident), decent cabin, and a nice helm. Coming in from 40 miles out in the normal Gulf slop, the guys actually fall asleep in the bean bags in the stern. Although the negative traffic about this boat on this board is pretty rough, I'd buy another one. My personal experience does not match a lot of the crap from the "my friend.." stories.

We own a 2660 with Zuke 200s. We have fished offshore Venice and Grand Isle and prefer this boat over our previous boat, a Palmetto 33, that kept anyone behind the leaning post wet. From what I have heard the PK negatives concern T-Tops (3rd part vendor) and the Lump boat had a history of bad repairs (not factory) after hitting debris. Our boat has delivered a dry and stable ride, with excellent fish boxes that hold ice over 24 hrs. My brother also runs a 2150 BayKat/225 Zuke, that he really likes. Ride before you buy anything and take your time. A good deal today will be there tomorrow.

It's refreshing to see a thread about ProKats that isn't bashing them.

I'm a VERY HAPPY owner of a ProKat 2200. I moved to this boat from a SeaPro 210CC.

I'm pleased with the quality, fit & finish, pretty much everything. But what I'm most pleased with is the ride. The difference between this boat and the 21' Sea Pro is night and day. That damn SeaPro beat you to death in 2' seas, and I'm not exaggerating. It just wasn't a comfortable ride. The PK is soft, even after being completely airborn. You brace for an impact that never comes. The reactions I've gotten from people when we hit big waves, or just when they first ride on it vary from big smiles to just stunned surprise. If you've spent any time in a monohull, you can't help but be shocked at the ride.

It's a very STABLE platform for fishing. I remember having to politely order people to the other side of the boat in the SeaPro when everyone rushed over to see a nice fish because the boat would list severely. Not a cat. It's flat.

All I want is a little more speed. I wish mine had the 140 Suzukis instead of the 115s and it would be perfect.

Their newly designed 23 tournament has a +9' beam and is really 26 feet long. If you are tall enough to see over the console, this is the boat I would seatrail, as to me it looks better on paper than the 22, 26 or 28.

The 28 Wa's had a lot of reported problems with the cabin interiors not holding up and I personally have never cared for her looks. I agree with the previous poster about the 2660 being their best older generation hull.

Sounds like the prokat has come back consistently with negative things so I think I am going do myself a favor and stay away from them.

The 26 cc, 23 CC, and 20CC look good to me.

I looked really, really close at the ProKat 2860 WA... and if you were ONLY going to FISH on EVERY outing, it has some nice things... but where does the wife sit... and would you ever overnight with such a weak cabin... ya-got-a have some diversity... I chose the Seaquest 3000 Sport fish (V-Hull) with twin 250's made by the same builder ProSports morfe like a SeaRay Fishing Cruiser... with Outboards... It has a mid-cabin, full kitchen, large head, great upper seating, There is LIFE after Fishing... This is a boat that you can go out to sea, out to dinner, or make the complete "Great Circle" and if you want, fish along the way.
