Default TOYOTA TACOMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I pulled my 236 Sailfish, loaded for sea this weekend with my 2006, Xtra cab Toyota Tacoma with a V6. When my friend and I came back to the boat ramp, I asked him, get the truck or put the boat on the trailer??, He said "You go get the truck, cause I don't want to be laughed at if that TACOMA can't pull this boat out". We were both completely surprised that that dam Tacoma did it better and with less effort than my V8 (5300) Silverado.
My wife has had an 05' Corolla for a couple of years now and wouldn't own anything else. I bought my Tacoma a few months ago and cannot say enough good about it and after Saturday, i'm convinced that there is nothing that little truck can't do.
Man, it breaks my heart to say this, but the big 3 better be taking notes, nothing I have ever owned, comes close. Dang shame.

In case you haven't seen the commercial of the Tacoma in the video game called "Warcraft"

"I have equipped myself with a little ahhh, 4 WHEELS OF FURY"
"DID YOU SEE ME LAY DOWN THE LAW, I AM THE LAW GIVA"

Seaboss signing off for the night...
Hoo Yeahhh baby.

I love that commercial, but I sure wouldn't be towing that boat with the Tacoma any great distance on a regular basis.

Your probably right, but, it is rated to do so! It might be like putting a single 150 on a 28' boat.

I think you might be pushing it just a little bit with the tacoma. But then it is a toyota. Once I sell my proline DC.
I will be buying a 22-24 ft walkaround. I know my 2005 Tundra will pull it without any problems.
Toyotas are just better than the big "3". At least thats what my wife told me. !!!

My wifes 04' 4Runner, a Taco with a top, tows our 21' Contender all the time. VVT 6 Toyota has quite a bit of torque, 282 pound ft. and tows it fine. 124,000 miles with about 4000-5000 miles towing and going strong at 21-22 mpg. Rated at 5000 lbs and probably could tow that fine.

This will just turn into another Toyota hate thread but we are long time Toyota drivers. My current Tacoma 06 DC TRD does just fine with the Boston Whaler Outrage 190. The truck is rated to 6,500 pounds and BTW won the Trailer Boats tow vehicle award for midsize trucks for 06 or maybe it was 05 (including the V8 Dodge). It tows effortlessly and we have towed some trips over 3,000 miles round trip. It had the best brakes, the best towing acceleration, best MPG, best handling. Only the Nissan beat it in acceleration (not towing) and it also won the 1/4 mile drag with the higher 6,000 pound test tow.

I cannot imagine why you would think it could not pull that 24 footer up a ramp. Heck, in 2WD and 4WD there is the TRAC and in low range 4WD you can lock the rear axle--it is a locker. If a 240 horsepower 4WD Tacoma in 4WD low range with the rear axle locked cannot pull it out then you have a werid problem of some sort. Pulling power is not in short supply with this truck.

Another point if you please. Todays midsize trucks are nearly as large and in some cases heavier and more powerful than so called full size trucks of 15 years ago. Can anybody explain how gas prices get higher and higher and people complain louder and louder and yet trucks and SUVs get bigger and bigger. Todays full size 1/2 ton is gargantuan and bloated compared to full size trucks of even 10 years ago and even larger than some 3/4 tons and 1 tons of a decade ago. What gives? You do not need such large vehicles for boats of 18-22 feet.

I have an 01 Taco with the V6 and tow my 17-1/2 Smokercraft with a F115 no problemo. Not sure what it weighs but I think around 2500 to 2800 pounds.
Good trucks! I've put heavier duty shocks on as I thought the factory ones were a little soft but that was before I got the boat.

Have you driven a Ford lately ?
Hey guys, I posted that old Ford slogan out of curiosity for a reaction. I do own a 2002 F150 and admit that it has never been in for service. Its been an excellant vehicle but.....................
My loyalty for Ford was mostly due to its local assy. plant in Norfolk, Va., which is about 15 miles from where I live. That paticular plant produced some very good quality trucks. But my loyalty ended this past year when Ford closed it after about 60 years of operation. About 3000-4000 people lost their jobs when you factor in all the vendors and shops that depended on that plant. They are now mostly built in Dearborn, Mich. No offense to the people of Dearborn but the quality of Ford trucks have really started to decline.
My wife has a Nissan Frontier that pulls our boat with no problem, but I have to tell you that the overall quality of that truck is disappointing. I do think that Toyota will take over as the No.1 truck due to its reputation for reliability and that the big three in Detroit better start looking at some sort of merger because there is just not enough room any more. The massive debt and union demands, along with skyrocketing healthcare and retiree benifits are going to sink these guys. Its a shame but thats life. If it wasn't for the Japanese automakers investing in our country by opening assembly plants and giving Amercans jobs, I probably would still buy American. The big three are investing in Mexico for its future, go figure. In today's world market, consumers are best off making their choices by quality and value and if the Tundra is the best then by all means drive one. I won't hesitate
to buy one when the time comes if its the best value at that time.

When I was young and stupid I towed my 23 SeaCraft which weighs about 4k + a galvanized trailer from Northern NJ to Long Beach Island. The Tacoma had a 150hp 4 cyl and I just used the ball on the bumper. Never had a problem and it pulled fine.

When they come out with a diesel that gets over 25mpg I'm buying.

^I tow my boat which weighs prolly about the same with my '02 tacoma. Has the 2.7 4 banger and the original clutch w/ 125k miles. Been towing it for 2 years sometimes 150 miles roundtrip with no problems. During huntin season I drive through deep mud, get stuck, dpull others out and generally abuse the truck. it has never let me down and is a BEAST. Even pulled out full size trucks.
