Got my vote. I boat Georgian Bay on Lake Huron. Best fresh water boating in the world. Lots of US transients in the summer as well. I think the problem is that THT is primarily focused on off shore cc fishboats and battlewagons. The rec boater/cruiser market is not their thing. Not sure why -- its a huge market. We spend a lot of money on our toys too.

IB"should" be open to a "small change" if there's enough interest.

I use these guys for info, reports and such Lake-Link.com they don't have quite the "mix-it-up" forums that you find here, just alota "stuff".

Actually they released a new version yesterday(e-mail) and I haven't checked it out yet.

I wonder how many boats are registered in the Great Lakes states and provinces as compared to the ocean states and provinces?

The top 10 states for registered boats in 2005 were:

1. Florida (973,859 registered boats)
2. California (963,758 registered boats)
3. Michigan (944,138 registered boats)
4. Minnesota (853,489 registered boats)
5. Wisconsin (639,198 registered boats)
6. Texas (614,616 registered boats)
7. New York (508,536 registered boats)
8. South Carolina (416,763 registered boats)
9. Ohio (412,375 registered boats)
10. Illinois (380,865 registered boats)

Regional Rankings
The Great Lakes region remained number one in regional rankings, with the Inland region falling from second to third behind the South Atlantic region.

The top regions for boat registrations include:

Great Lakes (IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI) – 3.4 million registrations
South Atlantic (FL, GA, NC, SC) – 2.7 million registrations
Inland (AZ, AK, CO, ID, IA, KS, KY, MO, MT, NE, NV, NM, ND, OK, SD, TN, UT, VT, WY) – 2.1 million registrations
The top 20 boating states represented nearly three out of every four boats registered in the U.S. in 2005. NMMA used registration data supplied to the U.S. Coast Guard by the each state to develop the registration statistics report.

I suggeted this awhile back since I live in S.C. but still head back to Catawba Island (L.ERIE) and Traverse City each year. I guess there is nothing that keeps us from posting on the regular forum (more traffic there), but I'll play ball. Love the Erie islands around the 4th of july! Unless you actually want to dock at any of them.

LOL. Made that mistake once. Took my family and my buddy's family up there back in '96. Rafted up at the dock. Boats were already 4 deep. Went to leave around dinner time. Another 3 or 4 boats to my other side. That place is crazy on the 4th of July weekend.
