Default Wouldn't it be nice if...

A company would/could create bolt on fuel injection systems for older carbed outboards similar to the automotive kits you can buy for some older carbed engines. I think of this because of the "what was your favorite motor" thread and most of them are older engines, like my favorite engine ever was an OMC 140 VRO, bulletproof great running engine. Of course the fuel economy would not be as good as a new outboard, but it would be an alternative to paying for new motors if all you want is a little better fuel economy.

Bradley,

I'm fairly certain you can just "bolt on" a system like the Holey ProJection or similar edelbrock system. Carbs are one of the few marine components that are very much similar to land counterparts. If someone can correct me on this, please do so.. The only thing changed between a land and marine carb is usually that the marine carb has a heavy cadnium plating, perhaps chromed throttle shafts and bowl overflow tubes that direct the fuel down the throttle bores. I don't beleive you have to worry about flooding an EFI system and I see no reason why you couldn't safely and legally use an aftermarket programable EFI system on any motor.

Unless you are speaking of Outboards only.. In which case you are SOL I guess....

Yes, I was speaking of outboards only. Sorry, should have been more clear.
