After "ras315" pointed out to me that my fuel numbers were off. I began to think, that he might have be right. I finally was able to get down to the Keys and take the boat for a spin. In the past I was just reading / writing the speed and MPG’s, and didn’t worry too much about the GPH’s. This time I paid more attention to the GPH’s & speed. I figure out quickly that the numbers were off. I then tried to figure out why they were off. I came to the conclusion that the gauges & the motor’s computer are set to “pitot” speed. The Pitot speed is considerably less than the GPS speed, so in turn the fuel burn numbers are off. I believe since I added the GPS receiver module interface to the system that it would override the pitot system speed. Guess what…. I was wrong. It didn’t override the pitot system.
Here are the results.
Now I need to figure out how to change the set up from the pitot system to the GPS system. Does anyone know how to do this? If so can you please walk me thought it?
Thanks
At 4000 rpm's you are going 35mph and burning 9.9gph to net over 3.5 mpg??????!!!!! That is amazing. My twin 115's on my 23 SeaCraft don't even get that type of mileage. Maybe a time for an upgrade...............
Very impressive!! When my old motors blow, I'll be looking for a 300 Suzuki for my 25 Outrage. What is the approximate weight of your Bluewater 25? How do you like the controls?
I got 50.5 mph, gps, out of my 24' formula 5000 lb deep V hardtop running a 250 suzuki. Stock 16 x 21.5 ss suzuki prop with a healthy ding in it. Cruise at 4200 rpm 34 mph 10 gph.

How do you like the controls?
It's take a lil getting use to them. I have knock down two people by over accelerating b/c how easy it slides into gear. I have to fine tune the tension adjustment for the control. It tends to rock forward in bumpy seas, next thing you know is you are running 500-1000 rpms more than you want.
Beside that it is a nice feature.
Ed's has them for 13,500 with 6yr Warranty, I'm assuming another 2K for rigging an, etc. Does anyone know if Suzuki requires them to be dealer installed or could I buy the motor in the box and have my local outboard mechanic rig it for me?

not the 300...needs a certified tech....I'm very impressed with this motor...it truly is the mpg motor to beat.....

They do take a little getting use to around the dock...big difference from the old style throttles.

I'm sure Zuke and Yam will be along shortly with a cruise control feature - once you are fly by wire , you can dial up digitally on the instruments the rpm you want it to hold...wanna go up 500 rpm?, just reset the rpm indicator with a push of the same button a few times...on my panel it looks lke this:
regarding the ease of the lever - crank the tension up inside the binnicle per the manual...all of them are too "easy" for my taste....
Do you think they'll be able to get a little more HP out of that setup? 25 or 50 more HP would be an awesome alternative to twin 175's or 200's..... That Yami 350 is just too heavy for my application...(or maybe there is a 350 ETEC in the future...)
