2000 Optimax 225 - The Hull Truth

I have a pair of 2000 Optimax 225's. One is serial number 0T165555. The other is only a few numbers away. I don't recall it off hand. I have analog gauges, not SmartCraft.

I am installing a NMEA 2000 network with my Garmin 4212 and a pair of Lowrance LMF 200's with fuel flow sensors. Can anyone tell me if my Opti's will out put engine data compatible with the NMEA 2000 network? If so, where can I get an adapter? My service manual shows a plug marked "Digital Engine Instruments" but I don't know if it is what I am looking for.

Any help is appreciated.

No, this does not work on Merc's, and you do not need a flow sensor in the line. The engine ECM handles all the fuel burn data by tracking what it injected into the engine. The only system with this capability is the NorthStar Nav. You can only put GPS data into the Speedo and it does the burn logging.

Also know that your engine is a 2000 and does not have the S/C Can Bus installed anyway. That is a different system that Merc made for those engines. It was the original Smart-Tach.
