Random Quote: BOAT....Bring Out Another Thousand!!
I'm having a number of problems with my digital I-Command gauges. First, I'll start with the gauges that I have. I have 3 of the 3" I-Command (LMF-400) gauges and 4 of the smaller 2" (LMF-200) gauges from Lowrance.
The 3" I-Command gauges have Software Version 1.3.0 with Build CA1320.
The 2" Lowrance gauges have Software Version 1.0.0 with Build CA1317.
The motors are 2006 225 E-Tecs.
Now to the problems .....
1. This will get kinda confusing, but when I have the motors set up as 2 motors ... port (0) and starboard (1) the only way I can get the I-Command gauges to see the starboard motor is to put the I-Command gauges on a 3 motor setup and set the gauges to read the port and center motor. We've tried all different setups in the EMM and it just isn't working. What are normal setting for this?
2. I don't know if this problem stems from the first problem, but no matter what I do the gauges will not save the "Boat Setup". If I turn the key off I have to go through the complete setup again (how many motors, tanks and how big is the tanks) I have to go though this everytime I turn off the key which is a HUGE hassle. I've tried to be as detailed as I could but if I missed something just ask.
PLEASE anyone with any knowledge of these whatsoever help me. I work on computers for a living so I consider myself technical but this is driving me crazy.
I just had the Evinrude I-Command gauges installed, Large and Small gauges. The lowrance LMF-400 and LMF-200 gauges are similar to the Evinrude gauges with some proprietary differences. So I believe "Gauge Setup" would be the same.
"Gauge Setup"--- When the I-Command Digital gauge powers up for the first time, the screen will show the Boat Setup menu. The Boat Setup must be complete before proceeding. During Boat setup, the number of engines and gas tanks on the vessel must be inputted.
NOTE: If the I-Command Digital gauges was Dealer-installed, Boat Set-up may already be completed. To repeat or reconfigure Boat Setup, press MENU. Select SYSTEM SETUP. Press ENTER. Select ENG/TANK CFG. Press enter twice...
Boat Setup will only appear again if the Engine/Tank configuration is reset, certain sensors are added, or if configuration is lost.
NOTE: For multiple gauge setups, Boat Setup needs to be entered on one gauge. The setup will be set on other I-Command network-connected gauges.
"Configuring Boat Setup"--- With boat Setup highlighted, press ENTER. A menu will appear, allowing choices of the number of engines and fuel tanks on the vessel:
Using the UP/DOWN buttons, choose the applicable option. Press ENTER. After setting the engine/tank configuration, enter each tank size on the Tank Size menu. This menu will appear with up to three options, depending on the number of tanks chosen during Boat Setup:
* Port Tank
* Stbd Tank (Starboard tank)
* Cen Tank (Center tank)
Using the UP/DOWN buttons, select the tank to set up. Press ENTER. The Setting Tank Size screen appears. If only one tank was selected during Boat Setup, the Setting Tank Size appears automatically.
Using the UP and DOWN buttons, input how many gallons the tank will hold. Press ENTER to set gallon capacity.
Press EXIT and repeat steps for each of remaining tanks.
After all fuel tank capacities have been set, press EXIT repeatedly to return to the main display.
After resetting the configuration, the Boat Setup screen appears. From the Boat Setup screen, press ENTER to access the engine/tank configuration menu.
Ok that's it. I think what you forgot to do was pressing ENTER twice, after select ENG/Tank CFG. (look above at my first NOTE message). Let me know if that helped....
Well, at least I'm not the only one...
I had 2 LMF-400, with the same #1 issue. I couldn't get any data for the stardboard engine...I tough it was the cable going to the engine being faulty, but since I also have an LMS-525 I found out that both engine appear as PORT when you set it on a twin engine / 1 tank configuation...

I have three of the LMF-400's with a twin 200 Evinrudes. I've had all kinds of gauge problems, but none like you've described. In general, the problems I had were compounded by the fact that no one at Evinrude knew ANYTHING about these gauges. I've finally got them worked out, but it took a little less than a year.
So, I can't tell you how to fix your problem, but I can tell you who to call. Evinrude finally has someone who knows these gauges well, and he's the one that finally got them straightened out for me. His name is Mike McBrady. You can reach him by asking for him when you call the Customer Support Line at 847-689-7090. His email address is: michael.mcbrady@brp.com
Oh, and another tip that helped me a lot, if you haven't already done so, download the gauge manuals from the Lowrance website. My gauges only came with the Evinrude manuals, which aren't very detailed. The Lowrance manuals are much better.

well I got a good tip from Jim from BOE Marine on the Vendor Forums. It seems logical, since I remember installing both gauges and turn them on both at the same time... http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/t...180619&posts=4
I will try on saturday and let you know... anybody tried lowrance number today???
